HEALTH TIPS: 5 Watermelon Facts That Might Surprise You

HEALTH TIPS: 5 Watermelon Facts That Might Surprise You
1.Watermelon JuiceMay Relieve Muscle Soreness
If you have a juicer, try juicing about one-third of a fresh watermelon and drinking its juice prior to your next workout. This contains a little over one gram of lcitrulline,
an amino acid that seems to protect against muscle pain.
One study found that men who drank natural unpasteurized watermelon juice prior to their workouts had reduced muscle soreness 24 hours later compared to
those who drank a placebo.
You do need to be careful with drinking watermelon juice, though, as it contains a significant amount of fructose. It may be better to eat the entire fruit. Check out
for tips to prevent muscle soreness.

2.Watermelon Is a Fruit and a Vegetable
Remember how watermelon is related to cucumbers, pumpkin, and squash?
That′s because it′s part vegetable and part fruit (it′s a sweet, seed-producing plant, after all).
The other clue that watermelon is both fruit and vegetable? The rind is entirely edible

3. While many people prefer seedless watermelon varieties, black watermelon seeds are edible and actually quite healthy. They contain iron, zinc, protein, and fiber. (In case you were wondering, seedless watermelons aren′t genetically modified, as they′re the result of hybridization)

4. It′s Mostly Water
This might not be surprising, but it′s still a fun fact; watermelon is more than 91 percent water. This means that eating watermelon on a hot summer day is a tasty way to help you stay hydrated and avoid dehydration (it′s not a substitute for drinking plenty of fresh water, however).

5. Some Watermelon Are Yellow
The Yellow Crimson watermelon has yellow flesh with a sweeter, honey flavor than the more popular pink-fleshed Crimson Sweet. It′s likely that yellow watermelon offers its own unique set of nutritional benefits, but most research to date has focused on the pink-fleshed varieties

I WILL DO A NEW THING

I WILL DO A NEW THING
Preacher: Pastor Sunday Odunuga
Bible Text: Isiah. 43: 18-19

[18] Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
[19] Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Dear friend, welcome to a brand new year. I would love to ask you a question: better was your last year than the one before? The sing song of many is the victories of yester years. They have no new victories. They have covered no new grounds. Please hear me dear reader, any man who prides himself only of victories of yesterday is a man of yesterday. He has no relevance in the now. May you not be that kind of man.
May I have you know that God is only delighted in men who make conscious efforts to move ahead each day? He spoke in Exodus 14:15 ?And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.? Hebrew 10:38 says ?? but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.? God is not interested in those who keep on a spot. God is not delighted in those who draw back. His only delight is progress- new thing!
Our God is a dynamic God. Every new day He renews His glory. Every new day He does something greater. Many are so used to the ways of yesterday that they do not imagine new things. Many are locked in their expectations that they do not dream bigger dreams. For as many people who are held back by the victories of yesterday God will give you a new ground to conquer in Jesus name. Do you know dear friend that the problem of some people is the victory of old?
Let us examine the spiritual import of Isa 43:18-19 for a moment.
??I will even make a way in the wilderness??(Isa 3:19B) I do not know that man or woman who is reading this piece right now and all around you there is thick darkness; no light or any sign that there will soon be light. You have come to the limits of your wits and the end of your wisdom. But the word of God is coming to you today. God is making a way of escape for you. Dear reader, I like you to know that the delight of God is doing the impossible. Impossibility is the specialty of our God.
The book of Mark Chapter 4 recorded the event of the wild storm when Jesus was asleep right at the innermost part of the cabin. Everyone in that ship on that day was afraid. They believed they would die. But Jesus right in the middle of the storm was fast asleep; it took some time to even wake Him. They said to him ?Carest not thou that we perish?? That day Jesus did one more new thing. Right in their presence he spoke the word ?Peace be still? and the wind obeyed. They exclaimed ?What manner of man is this? Even the wind and the storms obey him?. Listen to me reader: that long-standing problem of your life that you believe would cost you a fortune or even your life savings will disappear at the word of the master.
In Isa 43:19C God says ?I will make rivers in the desert?. Please note, NOT ?a river? BUT ?rivers?. By definition a desert is a place where no plant can grow because there is never water in and around it. As a result of this a desert is always lonely and deserted. Is there anyone reading this piece who is in that condition? Perhaps you have been avoided by men like a plague. It could be because of a malignant medical condition or a terrible financial situation. It is even possible that family and friends do not pick your calls anymore; maybe you have become so much a burden to them. Hear me dear reader, your glory will speak yet again. Very soon men will come to the glory of your rising. I have the assurance of God to say to you this day ?You will not die like this? God, even our God will show up for you. Behold, our God will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? He will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers our deserts

Sunday School

Sunday School
Your Sunday Service Is Incomplete Without Sunday School

Sunday school provides a structure for teaching God′s Word. Preaching isn′t enough. A systematic teaching of the Scriptures ? not just preaching (Acts 5:42) needs to occur through all age levels. Children, youth, and adults need opportunities for discovery, review, and interaction as they study God′s principles. Sunday school meets needs!

Sunday school gears Bible teaching to a specific age group (Deut. 31:12). It means a wiggly four-year-old can discover great biblical truth by acting out a Bible story, completing dot-to-dot pictures, singing fun songs, and obeying parents. During the same hour, senior adults may discuss whether their relationship with their spouse or responses to daily crises reflect their trust in God. Both age groups leave Sunday school with specific applications for the week.

Sunday school mobilizes and trains laity for leadership. It′s difficult to say who benefits more, the teacher or the student. The teacher′s Bible knowledge and care grows? his or her life is changed? a stretching occurs as leadership skills are developed. Students learn and are challenged, but how much more is that true in the life of the teacher

The Sunday school is discipleship! Every shepherd/teacher must have a desire to see each student in his/her flock have a spiritual life change. Since discipleship is “teaching to obey all I have commanded you“ (Matt. 28:20), it′s not merely teaching facts, but teaching obedience. While there are man styles of discipleship (one-on-one, small group, etc.) Sunday school is the group discipleship that is entry-level. It′s the “next step“ after attending morning worship. From Sunday schools can develop small cell groups ? discipleship. Since many people who attend church are not in a one-on-one or small group discipleship, an effective Sunday school is a form of “Discipleship 101.“

Sunday school is convenient. With the work, family and activity schedules of many church members, it is easier to come to church one hour earlier or love one hour later than to arrange another night out during the week. Also by having it on Sunday the children can be taught while the adults are learning. Parents who skip Sunday school in favor of mid-week small group often overlook the valuable “teaching times“ their children miss by receiving “child-care“ during the week rather than “teaching“ in children′s Sunday school.

Sunday school organizes the church into caring groups. The teacher becomes a shepherd for the class, an extension of the pastor′s ministry. Where the pastor finds it impossible to know all the needs of the congregation, Sunday school teachers (shepherds) know when someone is absent or hurting and can express love personally.

Sunday school leads the church in prayer and relationships. From the preschool class through all the adult classes, prayer is directed toward the specific needs of the class members. Often the lass not only prays, but has an opportunity to respond to specific needs. Fellowship and informal conversations flow easily in small groups where care is expressed and people know your name and your needs.

Sunday school focuses on outreach to peers and friends. In a small group setting, where warmth and love flow and topics are non-threatening, class members are encouraged to invite fellow-employees or friends from school. Class socials and activities can focus on community outreach through social or ministry events.
Sunday school lets the church do all the above with consistency. Sunday school is one of the most consistent programs in the church. It doesn′t stop for the summer and rarely for holidays. Sunday after Sunday its dedicated staff leads the church in this most important ministry.

Ways That You Can Help Your Adult Bible Fellowship
>>Ask the teacher or class pastor how you can help with the care needs of the class.
>>Open your home to class attenders. Use two Sundays a month to invite someone new to your home for lunch or an evening dessert.
>>Begin a personal prayer list for people in your class.
>>Share freely when there is group discussion.
>>Arrive a few minutes early and stay a few minutes after class to talk with people.
>>Help plan a class social where unchurched friends could be invited. Make sure you bring a friend.
>>Volunteer to follow-up attenders who are absent.
>>Encourage your teacher/leader to be a shepherd to the class ? not merely a teacher.
>>Encourage the teacher. Give him or her feedback on what you appreciate.
>>Attend the Sunday school convention for new ideas and motivation.
>>Be a “seed“ member of a new class.
