    What Is Man? (Ps 8:3-6)

    What Is Man? (Ps 8:3-6)
    When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

Very recently, we saw on national television a former minister ask a questioner in very condescending manner “Do you know who I am?”. Many big men and sometimes not so big men ask the same question “Do you know who I am”. It is interesting that when you ask them “Who are you” they get stuck. For some they may even name themselves as Minister, Governor or Senator in the belief that they amount to much. But at the recent passing of some of the world’s most powerful personalities, I have come to one conclusion: no man matters more than the current breadth in his nostrils. No man (except aided by God’s limitless grace) has more value than sand. For indeed, man is sand….

Dear friend, let me be honest with you. No man is anything in this world. None, especially not by himself. The Bible speaking in Ps 144:4 says Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. Isa 2:22 says “Turn away from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for of what account is he?”. How powerless! On the day that man was made, dust was gathered and God breathed in him the breath of life (Gen 2:7). As I ponder on the vanity of life in recent times, I have come to the realization that life and indeed man; is nothing.

But then, there is; in Zion, a grace that makes an incredibly valuable entity of absolute nonentities. It was that grace that spoke to Saul of Tarsus on the way to Damascus. All that he had ever been was a criminal: an undignified killer of the saints. He was not worthy to be called a human being. On the day that Grace met Paul on the highway to Damascus, he was arrested and convicted of his nonentity status. Thankfully; as a result of that encounter he was remade forever. Paul; speaking in testimony to this grace in 1 Cor 15:9-10a says “9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain;”

There was another man called Joseph. He had dreamt the dream of his greatness and for that reason he was sold into slavery. He encountered the wrath of Portiphar because Portiphar’s wife desperately wanted to have his warmth and Joseph was too decent for it. He ended up in prison. From prison he ended up second in command: Someone who was supposed to be killed. These are the un-explainable dimensions of Grace.

See; One thing is certain in this life: no one will come into tangible encounter with Jesus of Nazareth and remain just the value of dust. No one would ever embrace the saving grace of Calvary and not become a lot more than just a man.

Man is nothing; he has absolutely no value when he is all by himself. But man who encounters God is always more than conqueror.

    Basic Quality Of A Parent

    Basic Quality Of A Parent
Just as School Teacher must have basic qualifications in the subject they teach, a Parent must be qualify to teach children spiritual and moral lessons.
The following are the qualifications a parent must have before he/she can successfully raise good and godly children.

As a parent, you must have had an encounter with Jesus Christ and be vast in the scriptures.
  • You must have a solemn behaviour. Children learn more from what they see. Therefore, to train them, you must have a good character.
  • You must possess the ability to communicate the gospel convincingly to your children.
  • You must be patient and tender. Children are weak and fragile; They tend to get discouraged over little things so much that they may not want to have anything to do with God. Therefore, be patient and tender in dealing with them.
  • You must have a large heart. This means that you must love your children dearly. They should be able to lean on, trust and confide in you.
  • You must live in obedience to God’s word and make your children to emulate you.
  • You must be approachable. A fierce countenance and harsh tone can scare children away.
  • You must be very prayerful. Spend time to pray for every of your children regularly so that they will receive the grace to live righteous and holy lives.

  • In other words, you must practise what you teach your children.

    Push Yourself Beyond the Limits

    Push Yourself Beyond the Limits
Let me share with you this inspiring story of a local cultural dancer, who needed to raise N70,000 for the treatment of his sick child. He decided to organize a stage dance to raise the funds.
He designed a flier and started sharing it around his neighborhood during the day and rehearsing his dance routine in the night.
    His expectations were very high.
    Then the day came.
The stage was set and it was time.

To his disappointment, it was ONLY a small teenage boy that showed up for the event.
But he told himself, “I won′t chicken out, I must dance and give my best.“
    Then he started dancing.
He made sure he gave his best as rehearsed to the admiration of the boy.
After the show, the boy left and the man went home sorrowful.
    Status quo remains.
    He was devastated and depressed.

But something surprising happened the following morning.
The only boy that showed up for the show was the son of a wealthy man. He had always wanted to be a dancer and his father had approved it.
The boy had been charged with the responsibility to get a personal trainer and coach.
Unknown to the dancer, he was auditioning for a job.
The wealthy man called the dancer and gave him a contract to train his son with an upfront payment that cleared his bills.

One of the mindset you need to have to achieve more results whether in business, academics, marriage or in life generally, is to always outstretch yourself to exceed your previous limits.

It is very important to always push yourself beyond the limits.

    Wonderful (Isa 9:6)

    Wonderful (Isa 9:6)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

A wonder is something that is beyond the ability of man to comprehend. When you talk of wonder you are basically talking of something that is abnormal in a positive sense. You probably would once or twice have heard about the Seven Wonders of the World including: The Great Pyramid of Giza, The Great Wall of China, Petra, Coloseum in Rome, Chichen Itza in Mexico, Machu Picchu, Taj Mahal in India and the seventh is listed as Christ De Redeemer in Rio De Janeiro in Brazil.
Christ De Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida fashioned the face. Constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is 30 metres high. The arms stretch 28 metres (92 ft) wide.

Let us talk about Christ our own very Redeemer!
There is a wonderful story once told in the Bible of one friend of Jesus. He had fallen ill just at the time when Jesus was out of town and had died as a result. He was too close to Jesus to die young; his sisters had thought. Martha and Mary sent an urgent message to Jesus: “Your friend took ill and now he is dead; so please come quickly and make him whole again”. As if unmoved by the death of his friend Jesus did not arrive until four whole days; four whole days after the death of Lazarus. (John 11:38-44)
I do not know what seems to be dying right now in your life and it is looking like it would not live again; I want to assure you today dear reader; Jesus is coming for it.
So, Jesus got back to Bethany, Lazarus was stone dead. He was cold. He had already gathered substantial rot. The stench from his tomb was more than repelling. When Martha saw Jesus, they rued their loss “Jesus, why did you come so late. If only you had been here just a few hours after he died he would surely have lived again. But you are now three days too late. You friend is there, buried in the tomb with the dead”. Here’s one of the mysteries of the World’s greatest wonder- Jesus. Except it becomes necessary he does not reveal himself. I remember that he went to the wedding in Cana of Galilee entirely as a guest and would never have revealed himself were it not for his mother who begged vigorously for him to cover the shame of the celebrants. (John 2:1-12)

At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus lifted his hands and said
“Father, I thank you that you have heard me. And I knew that you hear me always: but because of the people who stand by I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth” John 11:41-43”

I want to let you know dear friend; whatever the circumstances of your life may be: Jesus never ever comes late; even on the day when he came four days after his friend had been buried he still was not late. Can you imagine that? How exactly did that come about?- Jesus controls time and seasons and so it is impossible to define his actions and inactions in the limit of time. If you would recall; Moses was already eighty years old almost heading for the grave when he unleashed his destiny. Abraham was a hundred years old when God commissioned him a father to generations. All of the time, Jesus defines times. Time never defines him. That is another wonder of his existence.

Dear friend, I imagine that you will be all glued to your TV screens waiting patiently for the Wonderful himself to visit you during the 68th RCCG Annual Convention ; Please go with a open heart. Be unyielding in your expectations and desire for this Convention. It is my sincere prayer that as we lift up our voices to heaven, the God of Heaven will hear us. Here’s wishing you a happy Convention 2020.

Revive Us Oh Lord (Hab. 3:2)

Revive Us Oh Lord (Hab. 3:2)
“O LORD, I have heard your speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.“

The story of the five foolish virgins who missed the feast with the Bridegroom was very pathetic. It would not have been if they had not bothered to wait. Can you imagine that you prepare so hard, leave your home and wait several hours to meet a guest only to be told that the meeting held while you were waiting outside? However, the marriage feast of the lamb was a lot more than a meeting. It was Jesus illustrating how the story of rapture would be.

In my opinion, the biggest error of the foolish virgins was their lukewarmness. (Matt 25: 1-13) And you really couldn’t blame them. They had got to the venue. They had been admitted in. They had oil in their lamps. Notwithstanding all of these they still lost. They lost because they thought they were already around the venue. The easiest way to miss heaven today is “being so used to church” that you take the injunctions of heaven with familiarity.

Dear friend, one thing is for sure in the race of life: You cannot prepare too much. In fact, the only way to win is to prepare more than is required.

    What does revival really mean?
  • Revival means waking up from one’s slumber. Once in a while in life, we may get cold. We may lose some steam because we are often beset with the cares of life. Were it not so, Prophet Isaiah would not have admonished thus “Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength”(Isa 40:31). As you may know, one compelling advantage of the eagle is in its ability for seasonal self renewal. Every once in a while, the eagle ascends to the hills and sheds its old feathers to grow newer ones. That brings me to my second point.
  • Revival is shedding unnecessary weight. The Bible, speaking in Heb 12:1 says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” No man can run with a weight on his head. As Christians, every weight of sin is an impediment to growth. If you seek revival you must let go of the weight.

  • Lastly, I must say that no one can be revived who has not first found Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.

Brethren, the signs of the end times are here. It is time to seek the Lord. It is a season to pray for revival fire as in the day of Pentecost to keep us moving in our Christian journey as we look forward to the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Happy New Month.
