Develop Your Child′s Potentials.(2 Timothy 1: 6)

Develop Your Child′s Potentials.(2 Timothy 1: 6)
As Parents, you should help your child to develop his God given gifts right from cradle, so that he/she can live his/her full and true potential in life.

The guidelines below will assist you:
  • Spend time with your child: you’ll need to come down to his/her level, spend time with him/her, and show interest in what he’s/she′s interested in.
  • Appreciate your child ability: be on the lookout for things to praise in him/her for.
  • Encourage a wide range of interest: by all means, encourage your child to develop interest in different aspects, also, encourage his/her creativity by doing creative activities with him/her and by sharing ideas.
  • Never ridicule your child: you should never make fun of him/her just because he’s/she′s different from others, either in his behavior or interest.
  • Acknowledge your child ability: this will help your child to grow in confidence and be more prepared to tackle other things that he/she might not be good at.
  • Encourage your child to set target for himself/herself; this will help him/her to develop an “aim higher” attitude to life.

  • Make learning fun.

Faith in God is essential in our walk with Him. In fact, it is the basis of our relationship with God because without faith in Christ’s finished work of redemption, no one can be saved. Even, after we get born again, we cannot please God without faith.

Faith is the key that grants us access to the divine treasury in times of need. With faith, Christian can go through life’s challenges triumphantly. Faith is absolute trust and total dependence on God in all aspects and situation of life.
As Christian Parents, it is therefore your responsibility and duty to build your children’s faith in God. This is the way to build their confidence in God and prepare them to face life’s challenges with courage.

As Parents, you need to help your children have a personal relationship with God. Make them understand that we are saved by grace through faith. (Eph. 2:8). Let them know that the same faith in God by which they were saved is what they need to overcome any challenges in their lives.

Teach them to pray always, depending totally on God’s promises at all times instead of seeking help from ungodly sources or resorting to self help. Tell them about bible characters who trusted God in difficult situations and how He delivered them. Show them how to study and listen to the word of God and teach them to obey it because it is the source of faith.

Above all, reinforce your teaching with your exemplary life. Let your children see that you put your trust in God. Practically demonstrate total dependence on God when you are faced with unpleasant circumstances. This will enable them to demonstrate unwavering faith in God and receive divine help in all circumstances.

    Basic Quality Of A Parent

    Basic Quality Of A Parent
Just as School Teacher must have basic qualifications in the subject they teach, a Parent must be qualify to teach children spiritual and moral lessons.
The following are the qualifications a parent must have before he/she can successfully raise good and godly children.

As a parent, you must have had an encounter with Jesus Christ and be vast in the scriptures.
  • You must have a solemn behaviour. Children learn more from what they see. Therefore, to train them, you must have a good character.
  • You must possess the ability to communicate the gospel convincingly to your children.
  • You must be patient and tender. Children are weak and fragile; They tend to get discouraged over little things so much that they may not want to have anything to do with God. Therefore, be patient and tender in dealing with them.

    Remedy For Strange Children

    Remedy For Strange Children
Evidently, many things are contending for the souls of our children, and every parent should be sincerely concerned about their derailing children.

Here are some of the ways you can win your children to the Lord as a Christian parent.
  • Lead them to Jesus. (Jn 3:14-15).This means there is still hope of restoration for your wayward children.
  • Teach them to repent of their sins and accept the Lord Jesus who was crucified for them.
  • Rid them of ungodly friends. (I Cor. 15:33) Ungodly and corrupt friends will ruin your children’s lives. So, completely rid them of ungodly friends who wield negative influence on them.
  • Set boundaries or limits where necessary to forestall further negative influence.
  • Don’t starve them of your love and attention. Children are attention seekers, and some of them behave unruly, just to get your attention as a parent. If you don’t get much involved in their lives and shower them with attention and love, they will run into the hands of peers or adult(s) who give them enough attention. Interact with them often.
  • Intercede for them.

When all seems to have failed in winning them to the Lord, the weapon of prayer will prevail.
Pray constantly for them. Prayer of faith is the key to unlock door.

Benefits Of Proper Training Of Our Children

Benefits Of Proper Training Of Our Children
    Successful Parenting attracts great dividends:
Nothing on earth gives greater delight than the sight of balanced and properly trained Child living in God’s purpose for his/her life. Child training is an investment that pays far greater dividends than any other investment and it is the most fulfilling job which God himself rewards. Great men and women of worth in all ages have attributed their success in life to good parenting. If we spend quality time and resources to train our children now, they will ever live to appreciate us, just like the children in Proverb 31 did.

We can be rest assured that anywhere our children find themselves they will stand for God and make us proud as parents.
If we raise our children in God’s way, they will become assets to us, the church and to the nation.

Finally, they will make it to heaven if they continue in the Godly we have shown them. For Parents who felt they have missed it in this area, it is not too late to start again. God is ever ready to help you. God’s instruction to us is to train our children in the way of the Lord so that when they are old, they will not depart from it.
May God help us not to fail in this task and help us to escape the consequences of ineffective parenting in our old age in Jesus name.

    Holiness is also for children

    Holiness is also for children
Unconsciously, some Christian Parents have bought into the idea of the fun-loving world that children should be preoccupied with fun, games and activities than with religion and relationship with God. According to them, teaching children about God and his holiness is simply too grand because their little minds cannot fully grasp it. Some others feel that once children make a profession of faith in Christ, then that’s enough, assuming that the teaching of holiness is only appropriate for children of advanced ages. Sadly, the consequence of these kinds of dispositions is that such children will not grow steadfastly in their faith in God as they ought to.

The teaching of the subject of holiness and holy living is necessary for the children of all ages and it is the responsibility of both Parents and the church to intentionally teach children about salvation and instruct them on how to live holy lives with the ultimate goal of bringing them into a growing relationship with God.

Leading a child to making a decision for Christ is not enough. It should be followed up with constituent instruction in righteousness. It is important that children are taught how to live a holy life in this pervert world because it is God’s desire and demand that every one of His people including children should live holy lives. It is a divine prerequisite for anyone who desires to spend eternity with God.
    (Heb. 12:14).
