Greater Glory (Haggai 2:6-9)
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts..
The call to redemption is a call to glory. The whole purpose of our election is the fulfillment of the prophesy made by God at creation. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air“ The man that emerged after the tragedy of Eden was certainly not the prototype of God. All mortals inherited an inglorious destiny by the error made by one. “For as by one man′s disobedience many were made sinners (Rom 5:19)“.
The starting point of liberation is knowledge. Some Christians are so well used to the story of Eden and the fall of man that it has become the very pattern of their lives. The real deal for ALL Christians is NOT the fall. The fall is pure history the real deal is REDEMPTION. REDEMPTION!
What exactly is the meaning of “Greater Glory“? In literal terms, glory means shining. Let us for a moment examine the scientific concept of luminous and non-luminous bodies.
A luminous body is one which can give light by itself. It possesses the ability to generate light while a non-luminous body is one which does not produce light.
Naturally, the sun is the first example of a luminous body. But you will be shocked to learn that the moon and stars are numbered among non-luminous bodies. The reason is that both masses shine only by the reflection of the Sun. If they do not get any ray from the sun they remain blank. In effect therefore, without the sun′s help, the moon and the stars are just huge masses of darkness.
The story is much the same for Christians. No Christian can shine all by himself. Isa 60:1 says “… and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.“ Brethren, no Christian can demonstrate any glory if God′s glory is not shone on him. Just as the moon gives no light when it stays away from the sun, just so a Christian shines no brighter than the level of his exposure to God′s word.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Ps 119:105)“ Hard labour only produces maximum frustration. It is divine leading into genuinely profitable endeavors that makes a man a star. So God′s word shows us the way to the top. In God′s word, we see what we were made to be. It is time for Christians to stop praying to God to bless what they do and get involved doing what God has already blessed. The most blessed of all life endeavors is what God himself instituted. If God instituted a plan, he will secure it to the end. If God created an agenda he will furnish the means all by himself. So the most rewarding thing you can do is to get aboard God′s plan because it′s already blessed.
Now there are at least three attributes of men who experience the glory.
One, they put grace to work. They spend their nights as part of their days. They are no sluggards. “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.(Prov 22:29)“. Brethren there are far too many believers who abuse the precious grace of God.
Paul speaking in 1 Cor 15:10 says “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me“. Men who are preferred even among the best, labour night and day seeking to reap a yield on grace. If you are reading this and still sleep ten hours every 24-hour in a day, you are far from glory!
Two, they keep at it! Success is never an occurrence, success is always a process. The moment of glory with glitters that you see on primetime TV advertorials are products of months, sometimes, years of painstaking hard work. So, if after your initial trials it seems you have not made much headway, be sure you are sowing a seed and soon it would speak. Please understand dear friend that for every glory there is a waiting period. It took thirty whole years before the glory of Jesus was unveiled.
Lastly, men who radiate glory see farther than their peers. They invest in the future. God took Abraham to the field and asked him to look. God promised to give Abraham the land as far as his eyes can see. You can not go farther than you can see. Dream big, think ahead and aim high.
Very soon, your own star will shine. Very, very soon, your glory will reach to the ends of the world.
