I was sitting listening to a French song, trying to pronounce each lyric.
French can be so deceiving, the way the words look on books often has little to do with how they sound, and I was determined to wrap my mouth around each note, even if I was making mistakes. I loved the very song playing and it was always heartbreaking listening to one of my favourite songs and yet I couldn't sing a verse.

With my headphones still on, I focused on the music, trying to translate some of the words into English, that was how I made french less difficult back in secondary school.
Suddenly, a flashback hit me, transporting me back to my secondary school days, and I couldn’t help but smile.

I didn't know enough in french but I loved French back then. It didn’t matter that it was a bit tough because I had my own little tricks to read and pass all tests and exams. I would often memorise my French classes with the help of familiar french music's that I knew their translations in English. Those songs made everything feel so accessible. I would sing along with joy, effortlessly picking up vocabulary that would come in handy later.

Compositions were always the best that i loved the most because i had those french songs at the back of my fingers, i would just translate the words and join them together to create complete sentences with meaning. I could also speak french by extracting and joining words from the many songs that I know.

Today was all spent on my Dad's assignment, I focused on the sheets in front of me, carefully following the instructions my dad had to given, and I took my time to make sure everything was neat and orderly.

After I finished, I handed the sheets to my dad with a proud smile. He glanced over my work and nodded.

Immediately he finished reviewing all the sheets, he handed me #2000.
My eyes shined in shick and happiness.
Two thousand naira felt like a small fortune, especially for a Sunday afternoon task

After I pocketed my riches, I thought about how I will spend my earnings. Maybe I'll use a part of it to get some snacks or save it until I returned to school? Regardless, I felt proud not just because of the money, but also for completing the task my dad had trusted me with. It was a simple assignment, but it meant a lot to my dad, he was to submit it back to the headquarters the next day and he had no time to do it himself.

It was a really nice day after returning from church, I decided to unpack my clothes and rearrange them, then my eyes caught a jean that my aunt sent me. It was a pair of baggy shorts that I was really excited about.

Back then, When I first opened the package, I couldn't help but admire them, it was the blue dark colored type, my preferred jean colour.

Unfortunately, when I tried it on, it just didn’t fit. I was disappointed because I really liked the style, but I decided to reserve them for later. I carefully stacked them in my box, thinking that one day they’d be perfect for me.

But as time passed, I forgot about the shorts until today.
As I opened the box, I realized, oh damn, the shorts.
Guess what guys?
As I tried it on, it fitted every single curve, let me talk less.
One more added to my collections.

It's been very long I witnessed a physical fight, like a year or two.
During the early hours of the morning I started hearing some shouts and screaming from close.

I quickly wore my clothes, I open my door and then I headed to find out where the noises and sounds were coming from.

It was my neighbors they were two living in the same room.
And when I opened the door, they where both standing up in Anger struggling and fighting over the bed.

Staring at the scene then, I was trying so hard to understand what the dispute was all about but the more I looked at the two, the more I enjoyed the movie.

Yes, I should have made efforts to separate them but they already had enough company inside trying to separate them.

One was fleshy while the other one was what we called slim feet. I watched as the fleshy one throw a slap first, Then the slim one staggered back and then with a frightening speed dived and pinned the heavy one on the floor. At that point the people who were already inside finally separated them and ended my movie.

We have had a lot of problems with electricity. It has been two years, and the power supply is very unsteady around this part where I live.
Sometimes the transformer is broken, other times the cables are damaged, or the connections are bad, it is either this story or another. One would say it's a curse.

Every week, we all put our money together to pay for the electricity and to rectify the damage. Untill the whole transformer broke down, and we were without power for three weeks.
Just yesterday, they fixed it, and the power came back, but I didn't feel excited or anything even while the neighbourhood was in jubilation.

In just a minute, the power went out again. When it came back, it was so low that I couldn’t even use it properly. I didn’t care anymore. I went to my friend's house to charge my things, but when I came back home, the power was gone again.

I was still on not moved nor did I show any sign of care. Blackout had dealt with me and I was already used the the whole stress of finding a place to charge and battling to study.
As people lamented about how they thought that the power which was restored would atleast last some hours, I just chuckled and kept mute.

Today was all about staying indoors, and I liked it a lot! After finishing my last school exam, I felt very tired. I knew I would go home soon, but I wanted to relax today.

When I woke up, I didn’t want to go outside. I had everything I needed inside my house: food, water, my phone.
I made a nice breakfast and sat down in my favorite movie spot. Then, I took my phone and started looking at social media.

As I scrolled through pictures and videos, I saw my friends sharing fun things. Some were posting funny photos and others showed cute animals. I laughed a lot! I also saw news about what was happening around the world. It was nice to learn new things while I relaxed.

I felt happy and calm as I stayed on my phone, enjoying fun stories and pictures. My skin felt soft, and my body was comfortable. I loved being inside my house, away from the busy school life.

I spent the whole day scrolling and eating snacks. Sometimes I would pause and drink some water. I watched funny videos and even saw some cool things people made
