Hitler ordered the massacre of millions of Jews not because they're fighting was against Jews but because it is a time of war and he and many other German and few Europeans hated Jews, what is called Antisemitism. Hence, sometimes what is genocide is debatable. However, while war crime is subject to justications genocide is not. What's happening in Gaza today is obviously "a war crime" and never a genocide.
