An Error that was Costly

There is this woman who owns a shop down the street. She usually has a lot of goodies and sells almost all basic commodities. Her shop is mainly focused on food and provisions, more than the other shops around, which is why I preferred going there. I didn’t want to face the disappointment of not finding what I wanted elsewhere.

So, this particular day, I went in to buy something. After making my purchase, she mentioned an account number that wasn’t working anymore and warned people not to transfer any money there. She had given me that heads-up about two days ago. But the devil was at it today, because I completely forgot about her warning.

I made a transfer of 1,500 Naira to that very account. When we realized what happened, she fell silent. After we pointed out the error and confirmed I had mistakenly sent the money to the wrong account, she remained quiet. It was one of those moments when you could feel the tension in the air and feel embwrrased.

I stood for some minutes hoping that the seller might come up with a suitable idea that would be convenient for both of us, but she didn't.
Checking my balance on Opay, I realized that I was running very low on funds but to save myself from embarrassment and time wastage, I duplicated the transfer and walked out in anger.
