In a small village, 12-year old Awoniyi returns home from school, experiencing an intense hunger that led him to devour a banana from a nearby tree. As he saves some bananas for later, and headed home.
Awoniyi lived with his grandmother, Ranti. Ranti was old 85-years of age, she was still agile and strong enough to take good care of Awoniyi.
Awoniyi eats from the sacred tree for days, triggering a series of strange events. He experiences strange visions, physical changes and his craving for bananas becomes an obsession. Awoniyi's wise and agile grandmother, who takes care of him, shows her love, concern, and guidance as she helps Awoniyi understand what was happening. Ranti shared stories about the banana tree's history and significance. Awoniyi learns about the tree's spiritual power and the importance of respecting nature. Ranti further, gathered materials such as sacred leaves and herbs as ritual to appease the spiritual power, they perform the ritual, calling upon the ancestors and three spirit to calm it's power and the ritual was successful, and the banana tree's spiritual power began to wane.
