FACTS ABOUT THE SUN

The sun, a giant ball of hot, ionized gas, is the central powerhouse of our solar system. Composed mainly of hydrogen and helium, it fuels life on Earth through nuclear fusion, emitting light and heat. Its immense size dwarfs our planet, and its energy production influences space weather with phenomena like solar flares and sunspots. Positioned about 93 million miles away, the sun's constant solar wind shapes the heliosphere. At around 4.6 billion years old, it has another 5 billion years before evolving into a red giant. Solar eclipses occur when the moon briefly interrupts its radiant glow.
