No Matter the pressure put in to pull you down, do not budge, take it to God in prayer.

Electrocution

Electrocution
I was going to church with my aunt when we encountered a car on the roadside. It was only about 6 a.m., and we were curious about what it was doing on that back street, where nothing was open and there was hardly any activity. We were baffled by the abandoned vehicle.

When we arrived at church, just before the mass ended, the news broke. The man who had driven that car had already been electrocuted. He had gone there to steal transformer cables, and when the power was restored, it had electrocuted him. As I sat in the church, I couldn't help but reflect on his tragic fate. I imagined the panic and fear he must have felt in those final moments. It made me think deeply about the choices we make and the risks we take.

I imagined how this man who had lost his life must have calculated what he had to do with the money and all. But then here he was, electrocuted and drained of his blood. What could one say about his family, who were waiting for him at home, just because he wanted to steal? Always, nothing good comes from evil. Good is repaid for good, and evil is repaid for evil. It isn't his first time, I guess. But now he has been caught, and he will never have to steal cables again.
Still, I feel remorseful for him and his family. A cable has cost him his life. Though the cable costs a significant amount of money, exceeding over 1 million Naira in this current economy, it’s not worth it. It's not worth it.

Some Self Fun

Some Self Fun
After cooking some jollof rice and having fun with my friends, I decided to watch a movie. It had been a long time since I saw a movie, but I really wanted to watch Venom. Everyone said it was really good, so I was excited!

When I started watching, I liked it a lot! There was a lot of action, and Venom was a cool character. I laughed and cheered during the fun parts.

But at the end part of the movie, something sad happened, and it made me feel a little down. It seemed like the main character was in trouble, but I remembered that there will be another movie soon. So I felt better because I knew he wasn’t really gone.

As Christmas is coming, I want to wish everyone a happy celebration! I hope you all have lots of fun and make great memories with your family and friends!

Deliberate infliction

Deliberate infliction
I was with my friend Kachi when we stopped by a nearby provision store to get some biscuits. Although I had already eaten some biscuits, the moment she mentioned that she wanted to get one, I decided to grab an extra for myself. We both chose a particular chocolate biscuit, and right there in the shop, I opened the packaging and took a bite.

As soon as I tasted how good, sweet, and delicious this chocolate biscuit was, I made up my mind to buy another one. So, I picked up a pack that cost 1,000 Naira, bagged it, and was ready to head home. Although the biscuits were really tempting, I wasn’t planning to finish them all in one day. I thought to myself that I would save some for another day, enjoying them little by little.

Before I knew it, the biscuits were all gone, and I realized that I had consumed the #1000 biscuit, which probably wasn’t the best choice for my health. It was chocolate, and it had a high sugar content. That particular evening, I started experiencing a stomach ache, just like my friend, who had joined me to finish her stew. We both began to complain about our discomfort, and when the pain intensified, we rushed to a nearby pharmacy to get some medicine.

At the pharmacy, they prescribed us a digestive aid, which we purchased. It was an affordable remedy, and thankfully, it helped speed up the digestion process and ease our stomach aches. Now, I realize that while chocolate isn't the healthiest option, it can still be enjoyable but in small quantity.

Alas Medicine!

Alas Medicine!
After I completed my JAMB exam in 2020, I received an excellent score, and my aggregate score was perfect. I was eagerly waiting for my admission into my dream course, which was Medicine and Surgery. However, I was disappointed when I received my admission letter and found out that my course had been changed to Anatomy instead of Medical Science.

Despite the change, I accepted the admission and began my studies. During my first year (100 level), I decided to write another JAMB exam because I wanted to pursue my dream career. While many of my classmates were busy buying application forms to switch to different departments, I chose to follow my own path. I relied on my self-inspiration and determination, staying focused on my goals without being influenced by others.

While others were reading just to pass their semester exams, I was actually reading to pass my semester exam and also to deepen my understanding of the field. I immersed myself in textbooks, research papers, and online resources, craving knowledge beyond the curriculum. My passion for medicine grew stronger every day, and I envisioned myself in a white coat, making a difference in people’s lives.

I immersed myself in deep readings, trying also to go and write JAMB that same year. I was willing to write JAMB while also preparing for my semester exams, determined to excel. I attended night classes, rarely slept during the day; my life then revolved entirely around studying. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make, and finally, it paid off.

I never thought of putting this into a story, but today, I am motivated to share it. I am currently in Medicine, now in my 300 level, and God has truly been gracious so far. I used my 100 level experience during the Anatomy course to help me through my critical times in 100 level, drawing strength and lessons from those challenges.
