I and the heavy water current

Close to where I live there is a canal that was created by water during heavy downpours and the canal is on the increase daily so anytime there a downpour am this skillful person that always finds a way close it no matter the amount of water in it I must still cross....
Hmm tragedy befell today it rained for 3hours non stop at night and I really had to attend church service today so it is what I must just do to cross over because if I should go through the main route I will be very late and might just sit in the overflow so it was not something new , but this time around the water was more so I took off my cooperate shoes (you know how choristers dress na ) so I folded my trouser to my knees to by my usual calculation the water wouldn't exceed my knees so I took the first leap of faith and I started out the was is 5metres wide so before I knew it the water was already on my waist level it was stained my clothes so I wanted turning back I missed my step and fell down I started to drink the water because I couldn't swim but I was helped by some farmers around I thank God honestly.
