Steer clear of the trap! Check your supermarket bill
Do you cross-check the receipt after payment?
I want out this afternoon to get some groceries for home use.
After selecting what I needed. I moved swiftly to the payment point and then quickly moved to a less populated point.
I handed over my ATM card to her. My bill was calculated in the usual way and the money was debited.
The receipt was handed over to me without cross-checking what she had calculated and then I moved to the exit door.
Though, I was not in a hurry. I trusted her that she had done justice based on what I bought.
Then, something prompted me to even check the receipt. At first glance, I noticed the tax deducted was much, but nothing I could do about it.
On getting home, I brought my mobile phone out to even do the calculation by myself so I could know how much tax was collected on items bought.
I was furious when I discovered I could not reconcile what I had calculated to what was printed out as a receipt, the sum of 1,100 was missing. Mehn I was sweating like....
It was then, that I began to suspect that something was fishing. Thereafter, I had a close look at the receipt. I traced the products one after the other with the number of the items I bought, coupled with the price.
It was too late to realize that she multiplied a particular product to be two, instead of one.
Now I can't go back to the supermarket because I have no proof. Had it been, I had checked the receipt accordingly before leaving the supermarket I couldn't have lost my #1,100.
