Extortion gone wrong

Extortion gone wrong
was sitting in my room and trying to read some books when I heard a shoe mender walked through the compound with the popular beats they made by hitting their tool box with an iron to announce their presence.

I quickly ran out of my room and beckoned on him, while he approached, I went inside to get my pair of shoes which had loosened threads.

Tomorrow which is sartuday, I plan to go for jogging in the popular stadium around school, it has been about 3 weeks again when I went fkr jogging last and I wanted nothing to discourage me, not my shoe.

what the shoe mender needed to sew was just a little work but he started calling surprising prices, I'm still wondering why he would even think of such price as if his needle and thread cost more than a litre of petrol.

I quickly gave him a side look before he came back to order and then proposed a fair price which I still bargained with until it fitted my budget.
No be from my hand person go take collect jackpot.

The Needle Teaches

The Needle Teaches
Kosi was a young boy of four years old, he was a son to one of my cousin's.
Growing up, I literally nurtured this little boy as if was my own son. We were close like a mother and son.
Even though Kosi respected me so much, there was one thing he would never heed to, even his original mother couldn't stop him.

Playing under the rain was the little boy's hobby, he never missed a chance to play under the rain no matter how unhealthy it was. His mother had tried everything, but each time he was prevented from having fun while it rain, he became weary of cry and falls sick afterwards.
Subsequent occurance had made his mother give up on restricting him.

I on my own part had tried my best but nothing seemed to work. We would only monitor him as he danced around the compound while it rained, and warned him from moving father from our sight. Since playing under the rain seemed a vital part of it, we all accepted it as a little culture.

On one occasion after Kosi had performed his usual habit, he became sick the next day. His joints hurt and he couldn't hide it.
After he was taken to the hospital, it was realised that he had caught pneumonia. The doctor placed him on 3 injections each in the morning and in the evening for straight 3 days.

When Kosi recovered, he couldn't face the fear of having anything cause him to return to the hospital and have those dreadful needles in his buttocks, and so, the habit was ridded.

Best Help

Best Help
It had been a while since I last relied on Google Maps to find my way, but I decided to give it a try for this trip. I started my journey on foot around 10am, thinking it would be a simple walk. At first, everything seemed straightforward, Google's voice guiding me with confidence. But as I continued, I approached a street that didnโ€™t sit right with me. I hesitated, thinking, โ€œCan this GPS be serious?โ€ Still, the app urged me to go forward, so I did.

The deeper I ventured, the stranger the path became. The road was filled with unnecessary turns that made no sense. Each corner led me further away from where I thought I should be. Thatโ€™s when confirmed I was lost. I had gone into a completely different environment, nothing like the area I was aiming for. The houses in this new place were built from wooden planks, a community I never knew existed.

At that moment, the most ridiculous thing happenedโ€”Google Maps proudly announced, "You have arrived at your destination." I looked around in disbelief. My "destination" was a quiet, unfamiliar area, in the middle of nowhere. As if to add insult to injury, the GPS then went off. No signal, no directions, nothing. Just silence.

I stood there for a few seconds, trying to gather my thoughts. Fortunately, I had some basic understanding of how the GPS worked, and I quickly recalculated my route in my head. I didnโ€™t waste time, knowing full well I had no business staying there longer than necessary. I retraced my steps as best as I could and managed to find my way back to the main road.

I laugh at the experience, but in that moment, it was no joke. I was just glad I got out before I became one of those stories you hear that leave you shaking your head.

Favourite Charger

Favourite Charger
It all started when I bought my favorite charger for 5,000 Naira. It wasnโ€™t just any charger; it was special to me. I had hoped it would last for years and not break down on me, even after five years. I took good care of it, always keeping it safe and using it gently.

One day, I went to a friendโ€™s place and used my charger to boost my phoneโ€™s battery. We had a great time chatting and relaxing, and I lost track of the hours. By the time I wanted to leave, it was late. I hurried to gather my things but somehow, in the rush, I forgot my charger at the station. I was so tired that I barely thought about it.

When I woke up the next morning, the first thing I thought about was my charger. I had a funny feeling in my stomach as I remembered I had left it behind. I quickly rushed to the station, hoping it would still be there. But when I arrived, the spot where I had left it was empty. My heart sank.

I searched everywhere, looking under the benches and asking people if they had seen it. I waited for a while, but no one seemed to have found it. It felt like my charger had disappeared into thin air, swallowed by the abyss. I couldnโ€™t believe it. I had treasured that charger, and now it seemed to be lost forever.

As I walked home, I felt a mixture of sadness and disappointment. How could I have been so careless? I should have been more careful and made sure I had everything before leaving. That charger meant more to me than just money; it was a part of my daily life.

I told myself that maybe I could budget and save up to buy a new one. But honestly, it wouldnโ€™t be the same. I regretted taking it for granted, thinking it would last forever. I learned a hard lesson about being responsible for my things and taking the time to check before leaving.

Poor Seat

Poor Seat
Last week, my fat friend came over for a visit, and I was really looking forward to it. Weโ€™ve been friends for a long time, and Iโ€™ve always been supportive and never made him feel bad about his weight or size. I figured it would be just another fun hangout like usual.

We had fixed a date for him to come over, and I was excited to catch up. But honestly, I didnโ€™t think much about my furniture before he arrived. I mean, my seats and bed have seen better days, but theyโ€™ve always worked for me.

When he finally got here, we settled down to chat and enjoy each other's company. Thatโ€™s when it happened. He sat down on one of my chairs, and I could hear this terrible cracking sound. Before I knew it, the seat broke right underneath him! I felt so embarrassed; I didnโ€™t know what to say. I reassured him that it was alright and that it had probably been on its last legs anyway.

But then, things got even worse. As the visit went on and we were having a good time, he accidentally spilled something on my bed. It soaked through the sheets, and I knew I was going to have to deal with that later.

Since then, I've been avoiding his visits.
I think the first day signs was a sign to something.
Let's see how it goes shaa.

A slip that almost cost a life

A slip that almost cost a life
I loved climbing trees even as a girl, especially this particular tall one we called the Ujuru tree in Igbo. It had delicious fruits, but I didnโ€™t climb it for the fruits. I climbed because I loved the view from the top.

My parents often warned me not to climb the Ujuru tree, but I couldn't resist. One day, I decided to climb all the way to the top, what a mumu move, As I reached the tip, I suddenly slipped and felt myself falling. In that scary moment, I saw my life flash before my eyes.
Doubt if you know that feeling.

But just as I thought I would fall, a branch caught me! I couldn't believe it. I managed to grab hold and slowly climbed down, and sat on the ground, thinking about how precious my life was than to view the beauty of nature from high angles.

I thought a lot about what had just happened. That experience taught me a big lesson. I realized that climbing the Ujuru tree wasnโ€™t worth the risk and from that day on, I never climbed that tree again because I didnt want to meet my creator already.

My first order

My first order
I remember my first order on Jumia. I was nervous because I had never used the app before. I was afraid I might lose my money if something went wrong.
The tension was so high, that I delayed entering the details required as soon as they appeared.

When I added my card details, my heart beat fast. I was worried about making a mistake or the app not working.

But I finished the order and got a confirmation number. Now I just have to wait for my appliance to arrive on the delivery date.

I'm excited but still a little worried. I keep checking my email and the app to see if everything is okay. I hope my order arrives safely and that I don't have any problems.

I know you'll all laugh at me, but this doesn't make me less of a city girl.
I it's just my first time and that's it and additionally, what I ordered wasn't an appliance of cheap prices, so I had every reason to be unsettled.
