Of all times!

Of all times!
I'm not feeling so happy right now because my fan just got faulty. I don't know what was wrong with it, but all of a sudden, this evening, the light fluctuated a little bit, and then that was it. My fan wouldn't rotate. I've used some screws and tried to open the back covering, and I’ve shaken some wires up and down, but it's not working.

This is another expenditure, and I wasn't expecting it anytime soon. They didn't even give me a sign that it was going to spoil or that something was going to happen to it. It was just a little fluctuation. Nobody's device got burnt or damaged except for my fan, and I'm feeling sad tonight with this heat and sweaty hands and body.

I'm still typing this story feeling all annoyed, but it's fine. Maybe tomorrow I'll take it to an electrician or an expert to try and figure out what's wrong with it. I hope it doesn't cost more than 4,000 Naira because that's all I could afford.

Tailor Friend

Tailor Friend
I went to visit my friend who worked as a seamstress
just three blocks away. She was so happy to see me! She gave me some good snacks to welcome me and after, we started watching a funny show together. She didn't have a lot of work in her hands as at then.

Suddenly, we saw a woman running down the road, and she looked very upset. She was shouting and chasing people, making everyone run away. Then she turned and looked right at us!

My heart started to beat fast. I smelt danger, What if she gets mad at us? What if she throws a stone or a stick?
We quickly grabbed our things and prepared to run at any slightest wrong move by the raging woman.

The woman full of energy and armed with a log started advancing. We ran and ran, our legs moving as fast as they could. All around us, people were laughing and shouting as they ran in different directions too. It was a little scary, but also very funny because everyone looked so silly running away.

We later got to realise that it was all a setup, and that the woman was a Tiktoker who created similar videos.

Trauma in daytime

Trauma in daytime
Yesterday was such a crazy day for me.
It started when I wanted to cross the road. I looked left, then I looked right to make sure no cars were coming. It was safe, so I took careful steps across the road.

After I jejely crossed, I saw a small gutter, like a little ditch, but it was kind of deep. It had just finished raining, so the gutter was full of water. I jumped over it carefully. Not like I chose to jump over it, it was along the road and its normal to leap over it and yesterday wasn't the first time.

But just as I landed on the other side, my phone slipped out of my hand and fell into that muddy gutter. I felt my adrenaline kick in because I quickly jumped back to grab my phone. I reached into the water and managed to pull it out. But it was all wet and muddy.

I pressed the power button on my phone. It turned on for a moment, this gave me a little hope. But then, it turned off again. I pressed it again, and it turned on but then shut down again.
This saying that someone will be on his own and troubles will locate him, is so true.

I took my phone to a technician Staughton from there. I was scared it wouldn’t work again. The man repairing looked at it carefully and started to fix it. I waited and waited, feeling nervous. After what seemed like eternity, the man smiled and said, “Your phone is working"
The relief ehhn, at that point, my brain started returning to normal and it occurred to me that I never even bargained the price.

Hike in everything

Hike in everything
Yesterday was a disturbing day after I realized I was out of soap, I didn’t want to spend my precious lunch money on that kind of sudden expense, so I used the little bar which was left until it was lost in-between my sponge.

As I said earlier I didn't want to use my last 1,000 Naira note to buy a soap that I wasn't sure of the price even though I know it was necessary that I replaced the soap nefore my second bath, but I postponed buying it till evening before taking my second bath.

After I returned from lecture I went to a nearby shop with 500 Naira which was usually the normal price that an Eva soap was sold for.

I stretched my precious 500 Naira note to the seller telling her to give me an Eva soap.
Instead of collecting the money, she was looking closely at the Naira note that I was stretching out to be sure of what i didn't know.
She quickly told me that the money I had with me wasn't enough to buy an Eva soap. I looked at my 500 I told that it was 500 I was holding and wondered how the price of soap had raised in the past week. Thesame soap that I bought about two weeks for 500 Naira has increased with a 300 Naira difference.
I was disappointed not in the woman, not in myself, but in the country Nigeria. Where are we headed?

Levels in Perfume

Levels in Perfume
I thought the perfume that I bought smelled great and was sure others would notice it too. But then, a friend of mine came to visit, and everything changed.

The moment she walked in, the smell of the fragrance he wore immediately entered my nose, filled the room and instantly brought me joy.

The scent was so strong and captivating that it made mine feel a little inferior.
I could tell this because as we stepped outside, whenever he passed by, people would comment on how great he smelled. It was not like my perfume wasn't good, but his own dispersed far and stronger. I felt like people would need to hug me really closely to even notice my perfume.

I later found out that he bought his perfume for 15,000 Naira, while mine was only 8,000 Naira. Even though the prices differed, he said it wasn’t a competition. But honestly, who has 12,000 Naira to spend on perfume?

Extortion gone wrong

Extortion gone wrong
was sitting in my room and trying to read some books when I heard a shoe mender walked through the compound with the popular beats they made by hitting their tool box with an iron to announce their presence.

I quickly ran out of my room and beckoned on him, while he approached, I went inside to get my pair of shoes which had loosened threads.

Tomorrow which is sartuday, I plan to go for jogging in the popular stadium around school, it has been about 3 weeks again when I went fkr jogging last and I wanted nothing to discourage me, not my shoe.

what the shoe mender needed to sew was just a little work but he started calling surprising prices, I'm still wondering why he would even think of such price as if his needle and thread cost more than a litre of petrol.

I quickly gave him a side look before he came back to order and then proposed a fair price which I still bargained with until it fitted my budget.
No be from my hand person go take collect jackpot.

The Needle Teaches

The Needle Teaches
Kosi was a young boy of four years old, he was a son to one of my cousin's.
Growing up, I literally nurtured this little boy as if was my own son. We were close like a mother and son.
Even though Kosi respected me so much, there was one thing he would never heed to, even his original mother couldn't stop him.

Playing under the rain was the little boy's hobby, he never missed a chance to play under the rain no matter how unhealthy it was. His mother had tried everything, but each time he was prevented from having fun while it rain, he became weary of cry and falls sick afterwards.
Subsequent occurance had made his mother give up on restricting him.

I on my own part had tried my best but nothing seemed to work. We would only monitor him as he danced around the compound while it rained, and warned him from moving father from our sight. Since playing under the rain seemed a vital part of it, we all accepted it as a little culture.

On one occasion after Kosi had performed his usual habit, he became sick the next day. His joints hurt and he couldn't hide it.
After he was taken to the hospital, it was realised that he had caught pneumonia. The doctor placed him on 3 injections each in the morning and in the evening for straight 3 days.

When Kosi recovered, he couldn't face the fear of having anything cause him to return to the hospital and have those dreadful needles in his buttocks, and so, the habit was ridded.

Best Help

Best Help
It had been a while since I last relied on Google Maps to find my way, but I decided to give it a try for this trip. I started my journey on foot around 10am, thinking it would be a simple walk. At first, everything seemed straightforward, Google's voice guiding me with confidence. But as I continued, I approached a street that didn’t sit right with me. I hesitated, thinking, “Can this GPS be serious?” Still, the app urged me to go forward, so I did.

The deeper I ventured, the stranger the path became. The road was filled with unnecessary turns that made no sense. Each corner led me further away from where I thought I should be. That’s when confirmed I was lost. I had gone into a completely different environment, nothing like the area I was aiming for. The houses in this new place were built from wooden planks, a community I never knew existed.

At that moment, the most ridiculous thing happened—Google Maps proudly announced, "You have arrived at your destination." I looked around in disbelief. My "destination" was a quiet, unfamiliar area, in the middle of nowhere. As if to add insult to injury, the GPS then went off. No signal, no directions, nothing. Just silence.

I stood there for a few seconds, trying to gather my thoughts. Fortunately, I had some basic understanding of how the GPS worked, and I quickly recalculated my route in my head. I didn’t waste time, knowing full well I had no business staying there longer than necessary. I retraced my steps as best as I could and managed to find my way back to the main road.

I laugh at the experience, but in that moment, it was no joke. I was just glad I got out before I became one of those stories you hear that leave you shaking your head.

Favourite Charger

Favourite Charger
It all started when I bought my favorite charger for 5,000 Naira. It wasn’t just any charger; it was special to me. I had hoped it would last for years and not break down on me, even after five years. I took good care of it, always keeping it safe and using it gently.

One day, I went to a friend’s place and used my charger to boost my phone’s battery. We had a great time chatting and relaxing, and I lost track of the hours. By the time I wanted to leave, it was late. I hurried to gather my things but somehow, in the rush, I forgot my charger at the station. I was so tired that I barely thought about it.

When I woke up the next morning, the first thing I thought about was my charger. I had a funny feeling in my stomach as I remembered I had left it behind. I quickly rushed to the station, hoping it would still be there. But when I arrived, the spot where I had left it was empty. My heart sank.

I searched everywhere, looking under the benches and asking people if they had seen it. I waited for a while, but no one seemed to have found it. It felt like my charger had disappeared into thin air, swallowed by the abyss. I couldn’t believe it. I had treasured that charger, and now it seemed to be lost forever.

As I walked home, I felt a mixture of sadness and disappointment. How could I have been so careless? I should have been more careful and made sure I had everything before leaving. That charger meant more to me than just money; it was a part of my daily life.

I told myself that maybe I could budget and save up to buy a new one. But honestly, it wouldn’t be the same. I regretted taking it for granted, thinking it would last forever. I learned a hard lesson about being responsible for my things and taking the time to check before leaving.
