TOPIC: THE BENEFITS OF CAMPING WITH GOD

SCRIPTURE: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you camp with God, you don’t only renew strength; you also renew your health.

It has been established that who you hang with determines what hangs on you. Association brings assimilation.

When you associate with someone, after a while, you begin to look like them, talk like them or act like them. That is why those who spend time with God assimilate the Character and Nature of God.

When you camp or spend time with God, you acquire the Nature and Character of God, and when you acquire the Nature of God, you stand out in life. Those who camp or spend time with God stand out from the rest of the people.

Now, what are the benefits of waiting on God?

i. Waiting on the Lord is key to supernatural strength.

They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31).
You gain strength when you wait on the Lord. You become stronger spiritually when you hang around God. You are not permitted to be a victim of weakness if you wait on the Lord.

There is a song we usually sing many years ago. The song says,
We have come to thee O Lord (2x).

We have come to the Father.
We have come to renew strength.

When you come to God, you move from one level of spiritual strength to another.

So, waiting on the lord is key to supernatural strength.

ii. Waiting on the lord is key to divine health.

Waiting on the Lord is vital to the renewal of your health. To wait on the Lord is like going to the mechanic workshop to have your car serviced. Just as we go to the mechanic workshop to service our car by removing stale or bad engine oil, when you go to God, He services your life by removing sickness, afflictions and diseases.

Look at what happened to Moses after he had stayed with God for a long time.

Deuteronomy 34:7 says,
And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

As a result of staying with God, his eyes were not dim, and his natural force was not abated. He tarried with God and every sickness or disease was cleaned out of his system.

Beloved, when you camp with God, you don’t only renew strength; you also renew your health.

Remember this: When you camp with God, you don’t only renew strength; you also renew your health.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Make up your mind to spend time with God at the place of prayer.

2. Remain with God until you renew your strength and revitalize your health.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace and discipline to camp with You. Deliver me from the attitude of laziness and indiscipline to prayer, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: HOW TO KNOW A CHRISTIAN

SCRIPTURE: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Authentic Christians are known by the positive fruit they bear.

It has been confirmed that the Christian journey is a journey of character reformation and transformation. And since character is the roadmap to destiny, being a genuine Christian or child of God positions one on the pathway to destiny fulfilment.

This means, to have a solid destiny, you must possess quality and positive character.

Now, I would like you to take note of few key facts on character as far as Christianity is concerned.

i. The most significant impact of Christianity is character transformation.

Acts 11:26 says,
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

The most significant impact of being a Christian is not having a title or a church sticker; it is the transformation of character.

ii. Followers of Christ are known by their fruit or character, and not just by church attendance.

Authentic Christians are known by the positive fruit they bear.

Mathew 7:20 says,
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Duration of church attendance does not make a person an authentic Christian.

By the manifestation of character, you know who is a real Christian. One can be born in a church and not be a Christian.

The question is, what does your character reveal about you? What fruit is your life bearing? Can people say you are a Christian by the fruit you bear?

This is my counsel to you: pay attention to your character development. Make a conscious effort to follow the example of Christ Jesus, not just in word, but in lifestyle and attitude.

Remember this: Authentic Christians are known by the positive fruits they bear.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind to be an authentic Christian.
2. Make the development of your character a top priority of your life.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to bear godly and positive fruits. Help me to be a reflection of Your Image on the earth, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: SWIFT OBEDIENCE – A GUARANTEE OF SPEEDY LIFTING

SCRIPTURE: So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Genesis 12:4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The challenge of our generation is laxity of action; the challenge of our generation is lackadaisical attitude.

A major character of the eagle is swift motion. This guarantees its high flight and existence at the top. The eagle is at the top ahead of other birds.
Similarly, in Scriptures, men and women who were high flyers were given to urgency of action. When duty called, they moved and acted urgently.

Now, one example of such persons was Abraham.
When God called him in Genesis Chapter 12, to leave his country, his kindred and father’s house, to a land unknown to him, he moved swiftly.
Genesis 12:4 says,
So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; …
God spoke to him in verse 3, and in verse 4, he obeyed God.
Also, in Genesis 22, there is no other verse between the verse of the instruction he received and the verse of his obedience. Abraham departed as the Lord had spoken to him.
God called Abraham again to take his son and sacrifice him on a mountain he would show him. And early the next morning, Abraham obeyed.
We did not see if there was a discussion between Abraham and Sarah his wife on this matter.
It was not possible for Abraham to tell Sarah, “The child you waited for all your life and got at the age of 90, God said I should kill him,” and she would not react.
Sarah could have reacted and said something, “I will kill you first before you kill the child. We will kill each other first.”
But Abraham departed to sacrifice the child without any record of his negotiation of God’s instruction with Sarah his wife. Rather, he moved speedily.
Thus Abraham enjoyed speedy lifting to the top by the instrumentality of his swift obedience of divine instruction.

The challenge of our generation is laxity of action; the challenge of our generation is lackadaisical attitude. This attitude has prevented many people from becoming useful vessels in the Hands of God. But that will not be your portion, in Jesus’ Name.

Beloved, be determined never to let the attitude of laxity be part of your lifestyle. Make up your mind to obey God swiftly so you can enjoy His lifting Power that will take you to the top places of life.

Remember this: The challenge of our generation is laxity of action; the challenge of our generation is lackadaisical attitude.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to embrace lackadaisical attitude.
2. Like Abraham, deploy swift action and urgency in fulfilling God’s purpose.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for your Word to me today. I ask that you deliver me from every spell of lackadaisical attitude. I receive the grace for swift and instant obedience to your instruction, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE HINDRANCE TO WALKING IN LOVE

SCRIPTURE: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Satan would want to hinder you from walking in love by orchestrating challenges around your life.

The Scripture reveals that love is a Nature of God (John 3:16). This implies that as children of God, we are designed to manifest the Love Nature of God our Father. We were created to walk in love.

However, it is worthy of note that there are hindrances to walking in love. One of such hindrances is personal challenges and confrontations of life.

It is difficult to walk in love when your life is challenged and confronted.

What is obvious many times is that when someone is challenged, they may decide to face only themselves squarely and leave others. When someone is facing challenging or difficult situations in life, they may begin to think, “What do I have to offer anyone? I am only struggling to survive; I don’t think I have anything to offer.”

In the year 1986, I had an appointment to pray for a close relation of mine who was suffering from a terrible demonic affliction at the time. The night before I could go and pray for her, I had an oppressive dream.

When I woke up in the morning and started getting ready to go and pray for her, the devil was suggesting things like, “You need prayer yourself. Who do you want to pray for? You need prayer yourself; you must be delivered first before you can deliver another person.”

Then I said to that devil, “I will show you what I'm about to do.”

So, I went and prayed for the young lady, ejected all the demons out of her, and she was totally delivered and freed from the clutches of the devil.

The point I am trying to make is, Satan would want to hinder you from walking in love by orchestrating challenges around your life. But you must refuse to give up on your duty of love to the people of your life.

You must always remember that even when you are confronted with challenges, you have something to offer. Therefore, refuse to be discouraged; continue to release love despite the challenges of life. And in helping others, your help gets released from the LORD because life is a seed.

Remember this: Satan would want to hinder you from walking in love by orchestrating challenges around your life.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to allow challenging situations of life to hinder your walk of love.

2. Make up your mind to manifest love and continue to offer solutions to people’s problems even if you are challenged.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace to manifest genuine love to people despite the challenges of life. Help me to be a solution provider, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: WHY DO YOU GO TO CHURCH?

SCRIPTURE: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Ephesians 4:13.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Many people come to church, but their character remains unchanged.

You are welcome to the ninth month in the year, 2024.

In this month, I decree that you shall exist in the realm of distinction and authority, in Jesus’ Name.

The Scripture makes it clear that a major work of a Christian ministry is the development of Godly character in the lives of people. The work of a Christian ministry and leadership is the development of Godly character.

Ephesians 4:11-14 says,

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive,

From this Scripture, we can clearly see that the work of a pastor, apostle, prophet, evangelist or teacher of the Word of God is the development of Godly character in the lives of the people.

The major work of a pastor is not the performance of miracles or giving of prophecies, but the development of Godly character.

The pastor exists for the development of the character of God’s people. This is because God’s purpose for the establishment of the church is the transformation of the lives and destinies of His people.

However, many people come to church today, but their character remains unchanged. That is a waste of church attendance because the major reason why you go to church is for your character to be changed, and your life to be transformed. God positions the pastor in church to feed you with the word that is meant to effect a positive change and transformation in your character. These Words are meant to make your life reflect the Image of Your Maker.

And as you keep attending church and your character is being transformed, you would come to a point where your parents, spouse, children, workers, etc, can testify that you are a true child of God.

Beloved, make the positive transformation of your life your major focus for attending church. Let church service be a fertile ground for your character reformation.

Remember this: Many people go to church, but their character remains unchanged.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind never to neglect the assembly of God’s people in church services.

2. Allow God’s Word to change your life and develop in you a godly character as you attend church services from time to time.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace never to miss out in the assembly of the saints in church services. I ask that You change me from within; transform my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: DESIRE; A SECRET OF MOMENTUM.

SCRIPTURE: My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? PSALMS 42:2.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The weight of a person is determined by the desire of his heart.

It has been established that desire is the secret of momentum. A man of desire does not appear tired, worn-out or hopeless; he is constantly and aggressively on the move.

This is the secret of men like Papa, Bishop David Oyedepo. He is permanently in motion – the secret is desire.

So, desire in the heart is the secret of momentum in life. And momentum is a combination of weight and speed.

This means, the weight of a person is determined by the desire of his heart.

If you ask, how does a man weigh in the world of the spirit? How do demons see him? How do witches and wizard weigh him? His weight is determined by the desire of his soul.

There are people who are spiritually weighty, and there are others who are spiritually weightless. This has nothing to do with one’s age.

Someone can be 25 years in the Lord and his weight is like feather weight; and another person can be six years in the Lord, but has a massive spiritual weight. Your weight is a product of your desire.

The question is, what is your heart yearning for? What is the call of your soul?

What matters to you more than anything else is what determines the weight you occupy in the world of the spirit.

You know, wind cannot blow a stone; it can blow a piece of paper, but not a stone. The longing of your soul determines the length of your journey in life.

Remember this: The weight of a person is determined by the desire of his heart.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to be a light weight in the realm of the spirit.
2. Build your spiritual momentum by constant prayer and the study of the Word of God.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to increase my spiritual momentum. Grant me the discipline to embark on spiritual exercises that will increase my spiritual momentum, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

SCRIPTURE: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 1 CORINTHIAN 2:7.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The wisdom of God is the answer to every question of life. The Word of God can dissolve every mountain in your life.

It has been confirmed that there is no battle on earth that is not winnable. There is no question in life that does no have answers. There is no mountain too high that cannot be brought low. So, all battles and mountains of life are surmountable; all hard questions of life are solvable.

So, it doesn’t matter what you are facing now, one day, you will look back and wonder how you crossed the bridge. You will look back and realize that you actually survived daring issues of life. You will realize that you confronted and conquered what came against you.

Beyond any current battle you may be facing, there is a victory and breakthrough ahead.

Please note that whether it is the conspiracy of men, demons, witches, wizards or ancestral curses, every battle of life is winnable.

Now, one way to win every battle of life is accessing the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God is the answer to every question of life. The Word of God can dissolve every mountain in your life.

You see, the wisdom of God is always captured or encapsulated in mysteries.

1 Corinthian. 2:7 says,
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
The wisdom of God contains the solution package of God. The strategies and answers of God to every battle, question, mountainous situation of life, are contained in His Wisdom. And this wisdom is always encapsulated in mysteries.

It is important to note that there are many things in Scripture we do not know. If we knew them, we would have walked out from some negative and challenging situations long ago.

My counsel is, make up your mind to search God’s Word so you can access His wisdom that dissolves all puzzles of life.

Remember this: The wisdom of God is the answer to every question of life. The Word of God can dissolve every mountain in your life.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Always know that every battle of life is winnable.

2. Ask God to connect you to the fountain of His wisdom that dissolves all mountainous situations of life.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You grant me access to Your Word so I can access Your wisdom. Give me the strategy to win every battle of life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: LOVE THINKS NO EVIL.

SCRIPTURE: 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-5.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Love does not take into account the wrong deeds of loved ones.

Our anchor Scripture reveals one major feature of love, and that is the fact that love thinketh no evil.

When we say, love does not think evil, what does it mean?

It means:
i. Love does not recount wrong deeds.

True love does not recount the wrong deeds of loved ones. Love does not keep records of wrong things done by loved ones.

ii. Love does not compute or calculate wrong deeds.

This means, love does not take into account the wrong deeds of loved ones.

You know, there are people who have in their possession a book of record to keep the record of wrong deeds done by people. Every wrong deed ever done to them is written in that book.

Any time you offend them, they open the book and tell you something like, “On October 1, 1980, at about 12 noon, you did the same thing to me.”

These people have electromatic brains as far people’s offences and wrong deeds are concerned. They have photographic minds to keep the record of evil people did against them. They would remind you of everything you ever did against them. They can’t forget the details of your offences against them.

The truth is, you cannot carry the baggage of people’s offences and wrong deeds and succeed in life.

iii. Love does not maintain grudges, malice and bitterness.

Love does not bear grudges, keep malice or harbour bitterness.

Now, the question is, does it mean if someone offended you to the point of wanting to kill you, and you discovered it, you should forgive the person and still make him your friend?

Not necessarily. There must be the combination of love and wisdom.

Imagine this scenario: Someone wanted to kill you. He put poison in a glass of water that you were meant to drink without your knowledge, but somehow, God orchestrated things around it, and you left the water without drinking it; a dog drank the water and died of the poison.

Are you to forgive the person? Yes!

But would you bring the person close to yourself as a friend? No!

If the person gave you water next time, would you drink it?
Never!

Is the person your enemy?
No.

Is he your friend?
No!
Who is he to you?
You just know him.
What are you doing?
You are exercising wisdom.

And if the person greeted you next time, would you answer? Yes! Should you forgive him? Yes! Should you be frowning for him all the time? No!

You don’t keep malice with the person but you apply wisdom in dealing with him.

Remember this: Love does not take into account the wrong deeds of loved ones.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind never to think evil of anyone.
2. Ask God to deliver you from the temptation of bitterness and malice.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to maintain a pure heart towards everyone. Help me never to keep malice with anyone despite their offences towards me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
