TOPIC: ARE YOU A BURDEN OR A BLESSING?

SCRIPTURE: Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10 (NIV).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your worth in life is measured by your positive contribution to the people in your life.

John Wesley was a great man of God who impacted his generation in his time. The world has not recovered from the impact of his life and ministry till date.

He was the founder of the Methodist Church that has spread everywhere across the world today. In his life time, he once preached to about 30,000 people in a single gathering. Imagine commanding such a huge a crowd at that time!

He travelled on horseback, and he rode on horseback cumulatively for 250,000 miles in his days preaching the gospel. That was equal to going round the equator 6 times.

He preached more than 40, 000 sermons in his lifetime. His daily schedule involved waking up every morning by 4 am, and sleeping by 10 pm in the night. And this continued for more than 60 years of his life. He preached an average of two to three messages every day. He was such a restless, brutal man.

However, he had a challenge; it was the challenge of marital disharmony. His wife was a thorn in his flesh.

One day, while he was praying, his wife held and pulled his hair to distract him from praying. The woman did a lot of things to distract his focus but he refused to be distracted.

Towards the end of his life, she apologized to him saying, “I’m sorry for all I did to you.”
John Wesley responded, “If both of us were to live together again for 100 years, you cannot undo what you have done.”

Beloved, the question to answer is, Are you a burden or a blessing to people around you?

Is your impact on your spouse and family negative or positive?

Have you helped or hurt your spouse?

Have you upgraded your spouse or you devalued them?

As a parent, what is your impact on your children?
And as a child, have you brought a bad name or good name to your parents?
Are your parents proud of you because of your lifestyle?

Beloved, your worth in life is measured by your positive contribution to the people around your life.

Remember this: Your worth in life is measured by your positive contribution to the people around your life.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Ask yourself: Am I a blessing or a burden?
2. If you have been a burden or a negative influence to the people of your life, make up your mind to repent today, apologize to them and correct any negative contribution you have made in their lives quickly.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You help me to be a blessing to the people of my life. Deliver me from falling into the temptation of being a torn in their flesh Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: FIGHTING YOUR WAY TO THE TOP

SCRIPTURE: And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is no future without a fight, no flight without a fight.

It takes the engagement of forces to fulfil destiny. One of the forces required to fulfil destiny is the force of a fighting spirit. There is no future without a fight, no flight without a fight.

Some time ago, I sat by an aircraft engineer in an aircraft, and asked him a question, “What makes an aircraft to fly?”

This was what he told me: “There are four forces that are involved in a flight.

There is a force that pushes it forward which is called the thrust. There is another force that takes it up, and it is called the Lift. There is a force that tries to push it backward like the wind. This force is called the drag. And there is a force that tries to bring it down and it is called gravity.”

He continued, “For an aircraft to fly, the thrust must overcome the drag, and the lift must overcome the gravity. And when the thrust overcomes the drag and the lift overcomes the gravity, then, there is flight.”

In life, there may be forces around your life trying to push you backward and there are forces around your destiny trying to push you down; you must make up your mind to overcome these forces in order to fulfil destiny.

You must refuse to be stopped by any force in life in your journey of destiny.

Matthew 11:12 says,
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
You need a degree of “ruggedity” to fulfil destiny.

You need audacity to maintain authority in the realm of the spirit. If you give room to timidity, you settle for a lifetime of adversity. Make up your mind never to give up, give in, or give out.
Decide to persist until you prevail and succeed.
Remember this: There is no future without a fight, no flight without a fight.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Refuse to be timid in life.

2. Move with a fighting spirit and take what belongs to you by the force of the Spirit

PRAYER: Lord, I refuse to be timid in life. I receive the fighter’s spirit to take my destiny by force, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: ARROGANCE – THE HINDRANCE TO DIVINE DIRECTION

SCRIPTURE: When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Pride makes people too arrogant to be instructed.

I had an experience many years ago, when we were about to go into full time Ministry.

I went to see a man of God in another town to show him the vision I got about the ministry. A pastor, who was in Abuja at that time, also went to visit the same man of God that I went to see.

Now, while I was telling the older man of God about my vision, this other pastor began to say to me in the presence of the older man of God, “Abuja already has enough churches. Look at this church, they have many branches in Abuja. Look at this other one, they also have many branches.”

Then the older man of God said to him, “Is he talking to you? Are you the one he came to see? Leave him alone.”

After this, I came back to Abuja and the ministry commenced. After a while, God gave us great explosion. Then one day, the same man who said that Abuja already had enough churches came to see me in the office.

He said to me, “We thank God for what He is doing in your Ministry.

Please, what is the secret of church growth?”

I wanted to answer his question, but before I could say a word, he interrupted, “I know there is a need for a solid prayer life and the study of the Word.” He began to answer the question he asked. When he was done talking, I told him, “You know it all! There is no need to say anything again. So, go ahead and do what you know.”

It was obvious that he only came to show off what he thought he knew and not to learn.

You see, pride makes people too arrogant to be instructed. There are people who are dying in silence because they feel they are too big to ask questions.

My counsel is, humble yourself and ask both God and the right people questions when necessary. This is how to make progress in life because no one knows it all.

Remember this: Pride makes people too arrogant to be instructed.

ASSIGNMENT
1. Humble yourself before both God and the right people to get the right instruction.
2. Adjust your mind to learn from anything and anybody God would choose to use including small children.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I ask for the grace to resist the temptation of being too arrogant to be instructed. Help me to learn from everything and everyone, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE POWER OF DIVINE DIRECTION

SCRIPTURE: …Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: Genesis 12:1.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Voice of Divine Direction is the secret of acceleration and distinction in life.

Our anchor Scripture clearly reveals the necessity of the Voice of God to the fulfilment of man’s destiny. The Voice of God is the voice of direction. Access to the Voice of God is access to Divine Direction.

It was one voice from God in the above Scripture that changed the course of Abraham’s life and destiny, and those of his generations forever. That is why you are just one voice of God away from your next level. Abraham would have died as a nonentity if he did not hear and obey the Voice of God’s Direction.

In our world today, many people are victims of frustration because of the absence of Divine Direction. Divine direction is the secret behind the making of great men like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc.

In Genesis 12:1, God told Abraham,
…Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

And to Isacc, God said,
…Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
Genesis 26:2

Now, what necessitated this Direction from God to Isaac?

The answer is in Verse One: And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham…
Genesis 26:1
And what was the result of this direction in the life of Isaac?

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
Genesis 26:12

You see, it is clearly evident that the Voice of God averts disaster.
Divine Direction prevents destruction. Divine Direction is the secret of acceleration and distinction in life.

When you check through Scripture, you will realize that people of Divine Direction were also people of distinction in their generation.

The Voice of God is full of power. Psalms 29:4 says,
The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
The voice of God powers potentials unto manifestation and propels destiny unto fulfilment.

Beloved, be determined to desperately covet the Voice of God so your life can be divinely directed, and your destiny powered unto fulfilment.

Remember this: Divine Direction is the secret of acceleration and distinction in life.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind to camp with God to access His Voice of Direction for your life.
2. Give yourself consistently to prayer and the study of the Word.

TOPIC: BEWARE OF BETRAYERS

SCRIPTURE: And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? Luke 22:47-8.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Show me a person who is a consistent betrayer; such a person has no future in this world and in the world to come.

Judas Iscariot was once a disciple of Jesus Christ who lost his life and destiny. And one major attribute of Judas’ character was betrayal of trust.

Our anchor Scripture reveals that Judas used the sign of love to communicate hate. He used a kiss to kill the Master. And at the end, he had no future; he died before his time.

Show me a person who is a consistent betrayer; such a person has no future in this world and in the world to come.

Sometime ago, a woman cried to me.
“What happened?” I asked her.

This was what happened to her: She went with her friend for a job in one of the offices in a government parastatal.
The job in question was worth Three Hundred Million Naira. The person who was to give her the job wanted her to compromise to get the job, but she refused.

Her friend who accompanied her encouraged her to compromise. She said to her, “Ah! Did you hear the amount? What would it take from you to compromise and get the money?”

But she stood on her ground of righteousness and refused to compromise.

Before you knew what was happening, her friend passed the backdoor, compromised and got the job.

This woman was devastated when she heard what her friend did. That is how betrayers operate.

There are several examples of betrayers in our world today. For example, someone followed you to visit your fiancée, and thereafter, your fiancée told you she would not marry you again. And before you could comprehend what was happening, your friend is already engaged with your fiancée. That is a betrayer.

That was what happened to Samson. It was his best man that married his wife. He paid the dowry, but another person married the wife.
We live in a world full of betrayal of trust. You confided in someone, but the person used what you confided in him to attack you.

Beloved, don’t live the life of a betrayer. Do not take people's trust for granted.

You will never be a victim of betrayal in Jesus Name.

Remember this: Show me a person who is a consistent betrayer; such a person has no future in this world and in the world to come.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to be a betrayer.
2. Forgive anyone who has betrayed you in the past. Forgive them the way Jesus Christ forgave Judas Iscariot.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from the temptation of betraying anyone, and protect me from betrayers. I receive the grace to forgive anyone who had betrayed me in the past, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To maximize your life, you must live on the edge by living with a sense of urgency.

Someone once asked John Wesley, the founder of Methodist Church, the question: “If you have just 24 hours left on earth to live, what would you do with your life?”

He answered the person, “I will continue doing exactly what I am doing now. There is nothing I would have loved to do that I am not doing currently. I am living my life, exactly the way I should live it.”

Beloved, that was a life lived with zero regrets, a life lived with impact. To maximize your life, you must live on the edge by living with a sense of urgency. This is how to live.

To live well, you must live with a clear understanding of your priorities. Know what to put in front of you and know what to put behind you. Don’t bother yourself with what does not matter. Don’t spend your life making enemies.

Your life is too precious to be wasted. You must not wait till the end of your life, when a major portion of your life has been wasted, before adjusting your life in line with God’s Purpose.

There are many people who have wasted their lives on frivolities only to discover the essence of life when they had no time left. They painfully wished they could have their lifetime reversed, but that is impossible. Don’t be like them.

Beloved, don’t wait to discover God’s purpose for your life when you are old and your time is gone.

Someone who is interested in joining the national football team of his country at the age of 55 is interested too late.
Someone who wants to be enlisted into the army of his country at the age of 60 is interested too late.

Beloved, make up your mind to live well, and endeavor to do so on time.

Remember this: To maximize your life, you must live on the edge by living with a sense of urgency.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind to live impactfully on earth by living with a sense of urgency.
2. Don’t waste your time and life on frivolities.
3. Make up your mind to redeem lost time and wasted years.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You restore to me the years I have wasted pursuing my personal agenda. I receive the grace to know and pursue Your purpose for my life, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: FORGETTING YOUR PAST

SCRIPTURE: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.
Philippians 3:10.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you forget your past, you must forfeit your future.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that forgetting your past is key to accessing your future.

Joseph accessed his future by releasing his past. He forgave his brothers of all the evils they did to him.

It is not possible to walk backward into the future. It is not possible to live in the past and have an accommodation in the future. Until you forget your past, you must forfeit your future.

Paul, in Philippians 3:10, says,

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

There are many people whose failures of yesterday are still tying down their destiny today.
Their mistake of yesterday is still affecting their life today. It is not supposed to be so.

Do not allow the disappointment of yesterday hinder your progress of today. Do not allow the memory of the people who cheated you, lied against you, refused to marry you, or betrayed you yesterday hinder your progress today.

When Joseph got to Egypt, he had two sons – Manasseh, and Ephraim.

Manasseh means, “I have forgotten,” and Ephraim means, “I am fruitful.”

This means, there can be no fruitfulness without forgetfulness. That means you can only be fruitful in life when you have forgotten the past.

Beloved, God might be saying to you, “There is a future of fruitfulness for your ministry, business, career and destiny, but there is something pulling you from behind.”

You might have started something in the past and failed, God is asking you to start again. Where you failed in the past, go back there and start again and succeed.

Remember this: Until you forget your past, you must forfeit your future.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to dwell in your past.
2. Start again! Start it again, and you will succeed.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to leave my past hurtful past behind. I receive the grace to move on triumphantly into the future Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THANKING GOD FOR LIFE

SCRIPTURE: Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; Acts 17:25.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Always thank God for the privilege of life and be determined to please Him with your life.

Life is a privilege. No one is alive today just because of their talent, power or wisdom.
Everyone is alive by God’s special privilege.

Life is a privilege, and one way of handling the privilege of life is to appreciate God who gave it.

Some time ago, a professor of medicine had a diagnosis. He was a renowned professor of medicine in a teaching hospital. He trained consultants, resident doctors and undergraduates.
Whenever he moved in the teaching hospital, consultants, resident doctors and other doctors in training usually followed him. He was so influential that he commanded the followership of other doctors.

One day, he had a slight abdominal condition, and decided to do an ultrasound on himself. From the result, he realised that it was hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Then, he told the doctors around him, “This is the diagnosis. This is the result of the scan. I bid all of you farewell.” (Paraphrased).

He bid them farewell because he had been a professor of medicine for many years and had not seen anyone who survived the condition he was just diagnosed of.
So, he bade them farewell and bowed to death. Despite his medical knowledge, he couldn’t save himself.

Beloved, you must understand that life is a privilege because even doctors who treat others die too.

I did my housemanship in a teaching hospital. A senior doctor who was in the same teaching hospital fell sick of fever.
He had intestinal perforation occasioned by typhoid, and before you knew it, he gave up the ghost right in the teaching hospital. He died under the supervision of consultants, top ranking medical professionals and specialists. He died despite being a medical professional himself.

This is why we must never see life as a right. Never see life as a right, but as a privilege. Always thank God for the privilege of life and be determined to please Him with your life. Be dedicated to God and to the cause of His His kingdom on the earth.

Remember this: Always thank God for the privilege of life, and be determined to please Him with your life.

1. Appreciate God always for the privilege of life.
2. Make up your mind to please God, who gave you the privilege of living, with your life.

TOPIC: DEPLOYING YOUR POTENTIALS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR DESTINY

SCRIPTURE: A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. Proverbs 18:16.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your gift unlocks your greatness.

It has been confirmed that the deployment of potentials is a trigger for destiny fulfilment.

Your potential is key to your possibility. Your potential, when adequately and properly deployed, opens up your opportunities in life. Your potentials equip you with authority.

This happened in the life of Joseph. It was his potential that opened up his entry into the palace of Pharaoh, the place of authority and influence.

Similarly, it was David’s gift that took him into the court of King Saul as an instrumentalist. That is why it is not possible to bury your potential and realize your destiny. Your gift is the key to your lift.

Proverbs 18:16 says,
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

Your gift unlocks your greatness; your gift brings you to the realm of eminence and prominence.

When you deploy your gift properly by using it in the service of God and man, God would anoint you to become a wonder to your generation.

Psalm 89:20 confirms this,
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him.

Beloved, God is looking for servants to anoint; He is not looking for masters. God is looking for people who are willing to serve Him. God is looking for people who are willing to service their generation with their gifting, so He can anoint them.

My counsel is, prayerfully discover and deploy your gifts and potentials to fulfil your destiny.

Remember this: Your gift unlocks your greatness.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind to discover the gifts and potentials in you.
2. Deploy your potentials maximally in the service of God and His Kingdom, and for the benefits of humanity.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to discover and deploy my potentials and gifts. Help me to bring out all that You have put in me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
