TOPIC: RIGHTEOUSNESS, A WEAPON AGAINST UNTIMELY DEATH

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:14 has this to say,
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Righteousness is a weapon against arrows of untimely death. Righteousness preserves.

It has been confirmed that godly character is a weapon of defence against the adversary.

Righteousness is an amour; righteousness is a weapon of both defence and offence. Godly character is an amour (Ephesians 6:14).

But when the amour of righteousness is out of place, vulnerability to the adversary is the outcome.

I heard a story some time ago. A man sat in an alcoholic joint with two friends of his, and having drinks. Suddenly, this man could no longer move himself. He could not stand or move. They touched him and shook him, but he just could not move. They told him, “Let’s go home. We need to go home now.” But there was no response from him.

That was when they realized that he had died.

The attention of other people around was drawn to the scene and then, they asked his friends what happened. It was discovered that someone poisoned the man’s drink. He drank it and reported straight to hell. He died a cheap death. The alcohol itself being liquid hell.

This was one danger of living an ungodly life.
In another development, a godly man took concentrated hydrochloric acid from the fridge, mistaking it for water, because the acid looked like water, and then drank it.

Someone told him, “You just drank acid.”
But he said, “No! It cannot be acid. I just drank water.”

And truly, the acid turned into water in his stomach because of the defensive weapon of righteousness and faith at work in his life.

Beloved, righteousness is a weapon against arrows of untimely death. Righteousness preserves.

Today, I decree that you shall not die before your time in Jesus Name.

Remember this: Righteousness is a weapon against arrows of untimely death. Righteousness preserves.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind to wear the garment of righteousness always.
2. Refuse to live carelessly; live uprightly.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to put on the armour of righteousness. Deliver me from anything that will make me vulnerable to the attack of the enemy, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: IS YOUR LIFE SOUNDLESS OR SOUNDFUL?

SCRIPTURE: The wind bloweth wShere it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. JOHN 3:8.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No child of God is permitted to live a soundless life; out of your life must come out positive sound.

My wife and I had an experience many years ago in a shop mall in New Jersey, USA. A man walked up to me, and said, “You are a pastor.”
I asked him, “How do you know?”

And he said, “I see it all over you. It is written all over you.”

Only God knows what he heard.

We had another experience in the Wembley area, in London while checking into a hotel. We met a young lady who looked like someone from a North African country at the reception. She looked at me and said, “What you have, I want it.”

My first reaction was to ignore her as if I never heard what she said. Then she persisted and said, “What you have, I want it.”

When we finished checking in, we went to the lobby and sat down. I asked my wife to call her. The people who invited us were also there.

I asked the young lady, “What are you talking about?”

She said, “I don’t know exactly what it is, but I know that whatever you have, I want it.”

Then I said to her, “I have Jesus Christ. I have the Power of God, and I have the Holy Spirit in me. I have the anointing of the Holy Ghost.”

And she said, “Everything you just talked about, I want it.”

And this lady is not even a Christian; she is a young Arab girl, a Muslim.

You see, our lives are meant to produce positive sounds.

Our anchor Scripture reveals that a child of God is born of the Spirit, and one character of the Holy Spirit is the wind. This means, every child of God is born of the wind.

And major character of the wind is the making of audible sound. The wind has an audible sound.
This means, everyone who is born of the Spirit of God should live a life of sound, positive sound. That is, your life, as a child of God, should be “sound-full.”

No child of God is permitted to live a soundless life; out of your life must come out positive sound.

REMEMBER THIS: No child of God is permitted to live a soundless life; out of your life must come out positive sound.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. What sound is your life producing? Is it a positive or negative sound?
2. Make up your mind and let your life produce positive, quality and impactful sound to your generation.

TOPIC: STRUGGLE TO KNOW GOD

SCRIPTURE: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; PHILIPPIANS 3:10.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The struggle to know God will end all other struggles of life.

There was a time when my wife and I went on a journey to see a particular man of God. We travelled all the way, but we couldn’t see the man.

Now, it was not as if we were failing at that point in our ministry. No! God was already helping us in ministry. I looked for this man, not because I wanted money from him. The man of God carried a dimension of grace, and I wanted to connect. And the person who was to link us up to this man of God didn’t do as expected, for some reasons best known to him. And I felt somehow disappointed.

On my way back, God told me, “What you are looking for is not with the man; it is with me. Link up with me and I can link you up with any man on earth if necessary.”

This word from God changed my mentality. I got home with my wife with more desperation to look for God.

Do you know what happened? As I pressed deeper into God, I found what I was looking for.

One day, I was in my office at the Dunamis church in Area 1 then, and someone walked into my office and told me that some people were looking for me.

And when I asked who the person was, I was made to know that it was the same man of God I was looking for some years earlier, the same man I was deprived of seeing, that sent some people to look for me. He sent them to invite me for a program in his country. He was trying to find out if I had the chance to come.

I spoke with him on phone through the people he sent, and he was delighted to hear from me. He said he wanted to meet me in person, and that he had heard many things about me.

I flew all the way to that country. I was originally meant to preach for a day or two, but it exceeded because they wanted me to preach in more sessions. I will never forget that lesson for ever.

The lesson here is, just struggle to know God. The struggle to know God will end all other struggles of life.

2. Ask God to reveal Himself to you.

TOPIC: EVIL MONEY KILLS

SCRIPTURE: As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool. JEREMIAH 17:11.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Avoid evil money because it leads to untimely death.

It has been confirmed that making money the evil way has many disastrous consequences. One of the consequences of evil money is untimely death. Evil money kills. Evil money is a killer.

Some time ago, I was preaching a message on “Evil Money” through a live broadcast where many people were connected online. Then someone who watched me while I was preaching sent a message to us through email.
He said, “After listening to your message, I agree that evil money indeed invites sudden death. I have a brother who was making such evil money and was killed in the process. I did not see my brother’s corpse. Truly, evil money invites death”

My wife and I travelled to Singapore some years ago, and one of our contacts there told us about someone who was on death roll for drug trafficking. They pleaded with the Government of Singapore and did everything to set him free, but the government refused because according to the law of their land, if someone is caught with cocaine, it is automatic death. That is the tragedy of evil money.

Beloved, all that glitters is not gold. Do not envy people because they are looking regal and rich outwardly. Don’t envy people because they drive flashy cars and wear expensive clothes when you don’t know the source of their wealth. Do not desire to make money by all means, including dubious ways. That is evil money. What God does not give you, you do not need it.

I want to let you know that as you serve God uprightly with your hands unstained, God will give you riches, and you will be far richer than those who engage in all forms of evil to make money.

Beloved, avoid evil money because it leads to untimely death.

TOPIC: INIQUITY; THE RUIN OF LIFE AND DESTINY

SCRIPTURE: "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty." ISAIAH 6:5 (NIV).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A person’s mentality is corrupted when iniquity is permitted.

It has been established that iniquity corrupts destiny. Anywhere iniquity is allowed, destiny is corrupted.

I give you four things iniquity does to a person:

1. Iniquity corrupts mentality.
A person’s mentality is corrupted when iniquity is permitted. A man is unable to think straight because iniquity corrupted his mentality. For example, a man sees no reason why he should take care of his wife at home. when the wife asks him for Five Thousand Naira, it becomes a quarrel but when a “Jezebel” on the street needs Twenty-five Thousand Naira, the man will easily release it to her. This is because his mentality corrupted. Iniquity makes a person to do things upside down by the corruption of iniquity.

2. Iniquity attacks focus.
Iniquity attacks focus. For instance, a drunkard is practically in loss of focus. His mind is taken off important things of life. He focuses on useless and aimless things. It is not possible to be focused on real things when your focus is distracted.

3. Iniquity attacks potential.
Iniquity weakens a man’s potential, capability, strength, and sharpness. Some time ago, I heard T.L. Osborn who said that whenever you allow sin in your life, something dies inside you (Romans 6:23). You may be alive but something is dying. Something dies in you when you take money you are not licensed to take.
4. Iniquity ultimately ruins destiny.
Reuben had no stand on earth because of sin (Genesis 491-4).

What is my counsel?
Don’t allow sin to kill your great future.
Resist the lifestyle of iniquity by all means.

1. Make up your mind to resist sin at all cost.
2. Always ask God for the grace to live right.

TOPIC: WINNING SOULS BY GODLY CHARACTER

SCRIPTURE: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. ACT 11:26.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Godly character increases the potency of Christian witnessing.

Many years ago, while in the university, I usually came across a young man who was a chronic Indian hemp smoker. Every time he saw me coming, according to him, he would begin to quake and quiver. He later told me after his conversion, “I thought you were coming to destroy me.”

He quaked because there was something in me that was piercing. It is the potency of fire and godly character.

So, one day, I caught him and he gave his life to Christ. I had never seen him smile until I led him to Christ.

I asked him to kneel down and confess Jesus Christ and he did. I led him to Christ by the fire of spirituality and the force of character.

Beloved, consciously imbibe Godly character. If your character is not Godly, nobody will accept to follow you to your church; no one will be interested in knowing your God.

For example, they see you do the same wrong things they do in the office. They come late to work and sign an earlier time in the attendance register, and they watch you coming late and doing the same thing. How would they follow you to church?

Beloved, Godly character is a potent witnessing tool.

In the Acts of the Apostles, unbelievers were the ones that first called the disciples Christians. They looked at the disciples’ character, and saw that they looked like Christ, so they called them “Christians” which means, “little Christs.” (Act 11:26).

Godly character increases the potency of Christian witnessing. When your character is godly, your witnessing is potent. When your character is correct, your preaching is short.

Beloved, my counsel is, live the life that will attract others to Christ.

REMEMBER THIS: Godly character increases the potency of Christian witnessing.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to make your life a hindrance to the salvation of souls by ungodly character.
2. Live the life that attracts others to God and compels them to know and follow Him.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to uphold godly character. Let my life be a dragnet of souls into the Kingdom, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: PRESERVATION BY THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WORD

SCRIPTURE: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. JOHN 8:32

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: In life, your preservation or safety is tied to what you know from the Word of God.

I heard a story some years ago where there was a terrible turbulence in air during a flight. The turbulence occurred during a flight from America to Australia. Everyone on board the flight was trembling in fear.

However, there was a man who sat all alone by himself in the aircraft and crossed his leg unperturbed. He was even whistling joyfully as he sat.

Every other person got confused at his action, and so someone asked him, “Everyone in the aircraft is afraid and shaking because of the turbulence, but you are calmly seated and whistling. Why are you not afraid?”

The man said, “If you know what I know, you won’t be shaking.”
The most interesting thing was that this man was not even a Christian.

The man continued, “At the corner of this aircraft, there is a man seated there. His name is Billy Graham. He is also a passenger in this aircraft. Since he is here, this aircraft cannot crash.”

That was the secret the man knew. He did not use his own faith because he was not a believer. He was trusting God to deliver him on the basis of another person’s faith.

In life, your preservation or safety is tied to your knowledge of the Word of God. Success in life is a product of what you know. And in the same manner, failure in life is a product of what you do not know. This is the reason why ignorance is a potent weapon of the devil. What you know is what you can show. The dignity of your life and destiny is tied to what you know.

Therefore, make up your mind to go for knowledge – the knowledge of God, the knowledge of His Word, and the knowledge of who you are.

REMEMBER THIS: In life, your preservation or safety is tied to what you know from the Word of God.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Make up your mind to go for the light of knowledge and refuse to live in the darkness of ignorance.
2. Spend time with God’s Word to know Him and His Purpose for your life.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from the bondage of ignorance. I receive the grace to spend time with Your Word to gain knowledge and understanding, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF UNREPENTED SIN

SCRIPTURE: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. PROVERB 28:13.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every secret sin unrepentant of, always has an open disgraceful consequence.

Many years ago, I heard the story of a young man who decided to commit immorality with someone’s wife.

This young man was single at the time. Unfortunately, he fell into sin and slept with another man’s wife.

Do you know what happened?
When he got to his place of work the next day, he was given a sack letter. He lost his job.

You see, no one was there when he committed the immorality. No one in his office knew about it.

In fact, he did it quietly and privately, but in the realm of the spirit, it was an attack on his destiny.
He was given a sack letter without any explanation.

Beloved, the lesson here is, the sin you commit in the secret brings shame and disgrace to you in the open if it is unrepentant of. Every secret sin, unrepentant of, always has an open disgraceful consequence.

When satan stood before Joshua the high priest to resist him, one thing satan was resisting was the destiny and ministry of Joshua.

Satan stood to resist the priesthood of Joshua; he stood to resist the priestly functions of Joshua because of Joshua’s filthy garment.

Please, always know that your destiny is at the mercy of the garment you are putting on.

Your ministry and your destiny on earth are at the mercy of the kind of garment you are putting on. If you are putting on a filthy garment, it is impossible to fulfil your destiny. You can ask Samson, Judas Iscariot, and Gehazi if you doubt this.

What is my counsel to you?

Flee from sin. Flee from all forms of iniquity because sin destroys your life and destiny. A filthy garment hinders you from fulfilling God’s Purpose for your life.

REMEMBER THIS: Every secret sin, unrepentant of, committed always has an open disgraceful consequence.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to indulge in all forms of secret sin.
2. Make up your mind to live right whether in private or in public.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from secrets sins that can bring public disgrace and embarrassment to me. I ask that You clothe me afresh with the garment of holiness, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: SEE YOU WHEN YOU COME BACK

SCRIPTURE: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. PROVERB 18:21.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your destiny is at the mercy of your tongue.

In one of services one day, by revelation, I spoke prophetically about someone who was traveling to a far eastern country, precisely China. I said that the Lord would take the person there and bring them back safely.

A woman came out and said “Sir, I am the one you were talking about. I’m traveling to China this Friday.”

Then I said to her, “Go and return safely. See you when you come back.”

So, she travelled and went to China. But on her way back, between China and Dubai, in the course of the flight, about thirty-five thousand feet above sea level, the aircraft’s engine failed. The aircraft dropped in altitude by ten thousand feet within five minutes. It was dropping like a stone.

At this point the pilot announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for a crash.”

Then immediately, passengers started screaming and shouting. In a lamenting voice, someone beside her said, “Is this how we are going to die?”

But this woman, the member of our church who earlier received the prophecy, “Go and return safely. See you when you come back”, stood up and said, “If you are about to die, I am not about to die. My pastor told me, ‘See you when you come back. And he will see me when I get back’”.

After the declaration she began to pray in the language of the Holy Ghost.

All of a sudden, within five minutes, the aircraft gained altitude and stabilised.

Then the pilot announced again, “I don’t know what happened, but everything is in order now.”

Beloved, that was the impact of the tongue. You can live by your words and you can die by your words. But death is not your portion in Jesus’ Name. Your destiny is at the mercy of your tongue.

Remember this: Your destiny is at the mercy of your tongue.

ASSIGNMENT:
1. Don’t talk carelessly.
2. Shape your life and destiny with your words.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to shape my life with my Words. Give me the grace to talk gracefully and positively, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
