    Happy Sunday

    Happy Sunday
woke up earlier than usual on this Sunday morning, my senses tingling with the anticipation of the day ahead. As I rubbed my eyes and glanced out the window, I could see that the weather was chilly, the air crisp and invigorating. It seemed as if nature itself was brimming with energy, ready to embrace the day.

A lazy yawn escaped my lips, but as my mind cleared, I remembered the grand concert we were hosting in church today. Being one of the organizers, I knew that it was going to be an incredible show, filled with lively performances and soul-stirring music. I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement coursing through my veins.

Although the program was scheduled to begin at 11am, I decided to start my preparations early. I knew that ensuring the success of the concert required careful planning and attention to detail. So, at 7am, I jumped out of bed, determined to give it my all.

The thought of the vibrant performances and the joyous celebration that awaited filled me with an indescribable energy. I could already envision a sea of clapping hands and joyful smiles from the congregation. It was going to be a day to remember.

With renewed enthusiasm, I went about my morning routine, showering off the remnants of sleep and getting dressed in my best attire. I made sure everything was in order, double-checking that the sound system was working flawlessly and ensuring that all the musical instruments were ready to be played.

As I write these words, I am setting out to church, eager to meet the other organizers and to see the preparations fall into place. The ink will soon dry on this page, and I will embark on this journey filled with passion and purpose.

Today is not just about putting on a performance; it's about using our talents and voices to uplift the hearts of those in attendance.

    Dark Streets

    Dark Streets
Emma as he preferred to be called, had always been a quiet boy. He wasn't one to take the spotlight or be the center of attention. But today, he had no choice. The history teacher had announced that the class was expected to give a presentation on any historical event they deemed significant. Emma was nervous, but he knew he had to prepare.

As he walked back home from school, he contemplated the presentation. What was he going to talk about? Would he be able to speak coherently in front of the class? All these thoughts consumed him as he arrived home.

But his fears were soon set aside as he was faced with a different problem. Emma realized that the street light on his street had gone out. This was not the first time it had happened, but it was a problem. Emma needed to iron his uniform for the presentation, and without a light source, he was in trouble.

As the evening dragged on, Emma prayed for a solution. It was then that he saw a group of agents from the electricity company walking past their house. Emma saw them as a ray of hope. They were there to fix the street light, but unfortunately, the light never came on.

As night fell, Emma tried to prepare himself for the presentation, but his mind kept wandering to the dark street outside his window. He imagined the street light shining brightly, lighting up the night, but sadly that never happened. Emma grew frustrated and could not sleep. The pitch-black darkness outside his window was discouraging.

As the hours ticked by, Emma could no longer bear to lay in bed. Despite being unhappy that he would be putting on rumpled clothes in front of all the students in school, he took the presentation most seriously and read with undiluted zeal and effort.

The next day, he stood in front of the assembly, hands trembling, and was about to stutter, but all of a sudden, like a wave of fresh air, he remembered how hard he had prepared for it and how he risked his sleep.

An ovation shook the ground when he ended his speech flawlessly.
Behind those rumpled clothes was a soon-to-be most famous student in school.

    Back to school

With his oversized head, he walked side to side trying to tilt his head, but the weight couldn't be controlled. His head was overly stuffed and I bet I couldn't control it myself if I was in the same shoe as the lad. He was a crossover student, a newbie.

I walked behind with a bucket and a scooper made of leather, roping materials, and of course, leather, whatever that is called, it was for getting water from a well.

I threw in my scooper/fetcher while taking a grip on the rope, and then slowly, I drew water and emptied it into my bucket. Until I threw it a second time and lost my grip.
The fetcher fell inside the well and there was no way I could reach it without a height that could reach down.

I looked down at my drowning possession in awe and heard the newbie chuckle.
    Suddenly a thought crept in.

.. "please can I try with your scooper to recover mine? ", I asked him politely with a smile.

"please all man on his own" he replied with rather a mocking grin.

I stood for a while in shock. I would have helped instantly if it happened to him.
Without lingering, I headed towards a shop nearby and demanded for a pole leaning just beside their property.

Triumphantly, I walked back towards the well, with a slow pace, I lifted the pole slightly above my chest so that the newbie could se how fast I got a better solution.

I had withdrawn my scooper already and was about returning the pole, when the mountain-head called out to me. Looking back, I realized that he was not with his scooper no more, it had fallen. I couldn't hold in my joy, I giggled and returned the pole to where it belonged.

I was done narrating the incident to the shop owner, the one who helped me with the pole, when the newbie drew close and please with the woman to allow him use the pole.
The lady refused but after I pleaded on his behalf, she allowed him.

The newbie ran back with the pole and was struggling to pull out his fetcher when the woman sent out her son to retrieve it.
I watched in amazement as the pole was collected from him. He tried to struggle but realizing that the boy was sent by his mother, he was rendered speechless.

After he stood there for some minute, he returned to the woman..

"please ma, I have not gotten my scooper yet before your son collected it from me" , he said.

    ,"I know, the woman answered"

This speech threw the newbie into a new trance and I was sure he won't recover from the incident for sometime.

Today isn't Just the best of it.
Been troubled with peer pressure, failed transactions and disappointments, all in one day.

But the best I can do is just hang in here and hope on. Not like I have better choices 😑😑

    City influence

Parents should not deviate from the normal disciplinary measures of training their children just because they left their home in the village to come live in the city.

Met a girl named Amara yesterday while trying to purchase something and the way this girl acted got me and I couldn't help.

I already ordered a roll of burgers and a soda to wash down the junk and the woman was struggling with the nylon bag when a fat, fair, and short lady in her early teens entered the canteen and started confronting the woman for having sold to her an expired product.

Yes, it was fair to complain, but the way she addressed this elderly woman was just out of place. Claiming she could have arrested her if it was in Lagos. She shouted at the woman to shut up when she tried to explain to her that the expiry date was still in a month.

I struck her face when she was just about dabbing the elderly and brushed her to the floor.
She wouldn't stop still. She claimed that her family had influence and all that and threatened me.
But come on, you are good off but you can't get over the fact that the little junk of #200 was stale?

With the help of other people around, they forced her to leave and never come close to the school canteen again.
