Late evening walk was my thing.
Actually after my senior WAEC I did nothing much to keep myself busy during the first months. So I suddenly developed the habit of going for evening walks around the university in my area.

The sites and people I meet along the way during my strolls are usually worth it. I would take a longer route around the heart of the university with my music on and which after, I headed back home.

I did this for over two weeks without missing a day. It was later added to my hobbies by the way.
Anyway that I missed taking a stroll into the university area due to more important reasons, I end up feeling unfulfilled for that day.

Just like the normal times, I started a walk into the school as usual, but this time, the time was a bit late than my normal coming.
The roads were almost scanty. There wasn't electricity lights in the buildings too except the few using generators.

I had already walked past the heart of the school and heading back with my headset on and my voice echoeing through the streets when suddenly, a Honda motorcycle pulled up in front of me.

I wanted to avoid them and pass but one of them acted to be stranded and demonstrated a pleading hand, so I pulled out my headset to understand them better. My eyes caught a gun immediately, the second man on the motorcycle quickly pointed a gun at me and requested for the phone I had in my pocket.

After he collected the phone, he unplugged the headset and placed it on my shoulder and went on to search my pockets. Left in my pocket was a #100 note which I was saving to buy 2 cups of cooked groundnuts on my way home. They collected the note and threatened to shoot me.

And that was my story😭

The frown grew tense as each bite passed. It also left yellow stains on my fingertips and I am sure it left some particles on my lips too.

I wanted to discontinue eating but I bought it with my money so it would be so unwise wasting it. I swallowed the salty-soured chips as quickly and shortly as I could just so it could be out of my sight.

Finally, I got done with it and drank a lot of water that would flush all particle remnants stuck in my taste buds.

Funny enough, the next day I started craving the same chops. Something I was sure the taste didn't please me then, but now I want it more than anything.

I got two packs of the "munch it" this time, but guess what?
The taste improved, I liked the weird taste even though I felt like not eating again.

With time, this thing with the foul taste became my favorite snack. A day without a bite became hell.

Till now "munch it" is the best.

And so she chuckled as she held his hand and swayed. Seemed like it was just the both of them alone in the world. Hope this thing we have lasts forever, either of them thought.

I want just a quiet place, no person around, no noise, but just your voice and the chirpings from birds Nina spoke out after the long laughter.
That wasn't meant to be funny, but Ibeh laughed at it, It was uncontrolled and though he tried forcing himself to stop laughing but he just couldn't.

Few months later and they crossed paths no more, a name of he/her mentioned around the other brought anger. People who thought themselves meant for each other before had now become enemies.
Couldn't place a hand on what resulted to the swift change, but for all it's worth, this thing they feel for each other now, this hatred, is best for all.

I already knew there was no water remains in the little gallon reservoir, but I must have forgotten as I lifted the weightless plastic with the intention of emptying it's contents in the hot boiling pot of okro soup.

With disappointment, I ran out to a nearby shop to buy. I was fast with the request, the unlocking of the tank was a bit of a struggle but eventually open and had water pumped into my gallon when I noticed a familiar face conversing with a friend. They were seated on a bench beside the entrance of the shop.

"Emmy look at your mates", the familiar face said to his friend as he pointed to the direction of some body built boys returning obviously from their exercise site.

The familiar face had wanted to make more mockeries of his friend before the latter refused to condone the insult and barked,
"You who compare me with this people, when last did you eat even a good food?, You think you just wake up and start sporting?", His friend barked and left almost immediately as the familiar face sat and stared in shock.

I giggled silently, picked my gallon and hurried to continue my special cooking. Omo mockery backfired.
