I have a neighbor who has a terrible habit of borrowing things, even when she has her own. She would rather use someone else’s items than her own, and it has become so bad that other tenants now hide their things from her or lie just to avoid lending her anything. It doesn’t matter if she has the exact same item; she will still prefer to take from another person.

Recently, a new tenant moved in, a quiet lady who brought along a brand-new blender. As expected, my neighbor wasted no time in getting close to her, establishing a friendly relationship just to gain access to her belongings. Soon enough, she asked to borrow the blender, and since the new tenant didn’t know her history, she gave it to her without hesitation.

Unfortunately for my neighbor, disaster struck. While using the blender in her room, an electrical fault caused it to burn out completely. The situation was no longer funny. Instead of taking responsibility, she tried to shift the blame onto the caretaker, claiming the wiring in the building was faulty. However, other tenants, who were already fed up with her behavior, refused to let her escape this time. They insisted that she must replace the blender because this was not the first time she had damaged borrowed items.

Now, the real question is how she plans to get a new blender for the tenant. As I write this, the new tenant is completely unaware of the gbas gbos going on. She probably still believes her blender is safe and will be returned soon. I can only imagine the drama that will unfold when she finds out what has happened.

Some days back, I trekked to the market with my neighbor, a young guy to buy some food items. He wanted to cook too, and we just happened to see ourselves heading in the same direction and decided to tag along. The market isn't so far from the house, a walkable distance, so it wasn't much of a deal to walk down there. We got to the market, bought some stuff and headed back home, using the same route we took to the market.

But this time, we met SARS checkpoint on the road, immediately the guy sighted them, he quickly turned around, and told me that he wants us to take another route home. I asked him why he's afraid of going through the SARS checkpoint, and he said that it's because of his iPhone 13 pro max, that they will want to go through his phone and he doesn't want that. The guy already admitted that if his phone should be checked, he will be found guilty of something.

I agreed, we turned back and took another route that required us to board a Keke. The guy always avoids them, because he knows he will be in trouble if caught, someone that is a student without any side job, but yet using iPhone 13 pro max is enough to invite suspicion on how it was possible to purchase the phone. I couldn't imagine myself not being comfortable to walk freely where ever I wanted, that's embarrassing somehow.

Today the guy bought an Android phone, according to him, he won't be going out with the iPhone anymore, that he will be going out only with the android, so that he can get past SARS smoothly. Meaning that he will have to be changing sim cards in phones everyday of his life, I pray he doesn't damage the sim card slot. You'll never understand the kind of stress and suffering the bad guys are going through to remain uncaught, but the good ones have nothing to be afraid of.

I sat in front of my house this evening, receiving fresh air, when I heard a scream coming from the house opposite mine, and then sound of something falling to the ground. The scream was from a lady who is a tenant in the house, and she was with her boyfriend who came to visit her. It was a one second scream and then a fall to the ground, meaning that the lady slumped. I waited patiently to see what will come next.

I wasn't the only one there, but it seems I was the only one who heard the scream, because others were busy talking. A minute later, the boyfriend came out of the house barefooted and walked straight to meet someone he knows outside, and then went back inside the house with the person, the look on their face already told that there was problem. I became very curious of what the issue might be, but couldn't get involved since I wasn't invited.

About two minutes later, the boyfriend came outside with the girl on his back, the girl looked unconscious and hurriedly left the compound for the hospital, together with the other guy that went inside the house with him. The people in the compound became curious, and had to go and check on her in the hospital, to find out what happened to her this same night. Some of started to panic, knowing that the girl could be in serious problem.

On getting to the hospital, the lady was bleeding from her nose and mouth, the boyfriend had beaten her. Like this it's a serious issue, the lady's family are coming very early tomorrow morning, and the girl is spending this night in the hospital. The boyfriend is in serious trouble, as the landlord has detained him with police. This is how it always happens and you'll hear that a partner killed the other, toxic relationships should not be condoled or tolerated for any reason, or you stand a chance of earning yourself a free ticket to the other side of the world.

On my way back home from work, I sighted my colleague who had gone home earlier, leaving a supermarket, she probably went there to buy something. I stopped by that same supermarket to get some items, when a phone on the counter caught my attention, I looked closely and discovered that it actually belongs to that my colleague I saw leaving the supermarket when I was approaching, she forgot her phone.

I explained to the sales girl that the owner of the phone is my colleague and friend, and I can return the phone to her, I went as far as dialing my colleague's number, so the phone will ring and my name will show, as evidence we actually know ourselves, that's when the sales girl was convinced enough to let me take the phone with me, I bought my items and headed straight for my friend's house.

On my way, I remembered how I forgot my first android phone inside a keke, and by the time I used somebody's phone to call my line, it was switched off already, stolen straight away. But here I am, stressing myself to walk down to someone's house to deliver a misplaced phone, most people will just cart away with any valuable item they come across without conscience, is it that they were born with such behaviour and I wasn't?

Got to my colleague's house and found her crying already, she couldn't even remember where and how she misplaced the phone, I just handed her the phone and started walking home as I was extremely tired, she thanked me as if i had just saved a life. I had to go extra mile to do this good, not minding that my own case was a sad one, and I would have had an excuse to give to my conscience; that mine was stolen too. But I felt good to have done something good.

When the university in my state did matriculation last year, the students went to after-matric party in the night, one person went missing and was later found dead after some days, a girl was raped to death at the spot, and some other things that I can't really remember. And for some years now, matriculation days in this university have always been accompanied with bad news.

Yet the students will still fall victim to this type of happening in every year's matriculation, just like the one that happened some days back. Some students went missing in an after-matric party, still, next year will have still produce the same outcome, because people have refused to be careful in their celebration. Matriculation is just the beginning of a journey, so what's with the excess celebration?

The more annoying thing is that the victims are mostly 200 level and 300 level students, who are not even supposed to be involved in the matriculation, but since they like to party, they carry the celebration on their head and lose their lives in the process. Now parents are going round, reporting to authorities to help find their children, it's not a good thing that the innocent parents have to go through this stress because of the children.

The matriculation should have ended there in school before evening, there is no need of going to an hotel in the night to further continue the celebration, it's uncalled for. Convocation is worth more celebrating, even then, it will be more nice if you celebrate it at home with your family, it's safer and more meaningful that way.

Yesterday was the day that Xiaomi Brand did promo for their customers, a Chinese company that is here in Nigeria and produces electronic devices and gadgets. The event was streamed live on Facebook and there were giveaway and gifts for some lucky viewers. I heard about the event many days ago and made up my mind to join the live stream, with full hope of winning something. I really believed that I will go home with something.

I had loaded my phone with enough browsing data, so that the live stream won't disconnect for any reason, I even skipped something that I wanted to do, just to be a part of the promo. The live season kicked off, and about 100 people joined, still I believe I will win, I was even the first to comment in the live stream. I sat at a very quiet and comfortable spot, so that I won't be distracted for any reason, to show I was serious.

We were asked to drop a particular comment and the winner will be picked randomly for the first prize, I dropped the comment as many as possible but didn't get picked for the gift. It happened again like that for a second time, I was beginning to get very upset. The person in charge at least mentioned people's name in the live stream, but my name was not mentioned. At this point I was angry, and before I knew it, all the gifts and giveaway were all won.

The feeling that I was sure I'll be lucky to win, and then I didn't win, I was really pained that I angrily switched off my data and left where I was sitting. Someone even greeted me, but I refused to answer, me that is looking for a new phone, yet couldn't win where phones were given out for free. The whole thing ruined my day, it was in the evening that I was calm and had a rethink that it was a raffle draw, it's called luck, and that is why you shouldn't hang your hope on it.

I'm fine now sha, just that anything that has to do with raffle draw, I don't wish to be part of it again, I hate heartbreaks, and since I can't absorb it, I better stay away completely.

Yesterday I closed early from work and decided to trek home. I came across a girl, crying and rolling by the roadside, and people gathered to find out what the problem was. I also waited to find out why a girl in her early 20s will cry like a baby. The guy was just crying and shouting her atm card, her money, he account. At this point I got an hint of what happened; that she must have been robbed, and wanted to know how it happened.

The girl said that she stopped a taxi to board to somewhere, she said the driver offered to carry her in the front seat for free, there were people at the back, but she didn't take note of them. When she was about to enter, the driver begged her to help him bring with her some sand from the ground, the girl scooped some sand in her hand for the driver who used a sag bag to collect the sand. She didn't entered the front seat and the taxi moved.

We girls so much love things that are free, no matter what, and the girl was hoping to enjoy the free ride home, but things didn't go that way. According to the girl, the last thing she remembered is sitting in the front seat of the taxi, and then she realized herself standing by the roadside, with her handbag and phone and every other belongings gone. Clearly she has been hypnotized. She was crying uncomfortably, I felt pity for her, it could happen to anyone.

The people there tried to help her contact her family and get home, to avoid her doing anything stupid or brutal to herself. She wasn't in her right frame of mind, such incident can make someone go mad for minutes. As I was walking home, I was thinking, but why will someone ask another person to help carry sand from the ground for him or her. It's doesn't make any sense, but to their charms, it does mean something. It just gets to show that free things should cloud your sense of reasoning. Me? Carry sand from the ground? For you? Hmm, not possible.

Last Saturday was declared a sanitation day in the compound I live, one of the tenants, a guy had been appointed by the landlord, to be in charge of the sanitation of the compound. So the guy is literally the one to fix the date for the compound cleaning, and anyone who doesn't participate in the cleanup will be fined. Even with the fact that I got home late that Friday night, I still had to make sure that I was involved in the cleanup.

We decided to fill and level the road in front of the compound, there were too many pot holes, rainwater became stagnant there, often producing unpleasant smells. As we were filling up the place, one of our neighbors who drives that road decided to appreciate us, and brought us some amount of money and a bottle of alcoholic drink. The tenant in charge of the sanitation collected the money and the drink went round.

I was expecting him to use part of the money and buy juice, for people like me that don't drink alcohol, but the guy started behaving somehow. He started saying that with or without any money, the cleanup would have still been done, that the money should be forgotten about. The other tenants disagreed with him and told him that it's a different case, someone appreciated the whole compound with the money, and it's not right for him to make away with it, just because he's the one in charge.

At the end, it led to a serious quarrel, and fight almost broke out, before the guy angrily remitted the money. The money was just 5k, in my mind I was wondering why a guy like that will behave in such a way, even with people that are older than him. The money was meant for everybody and he wanted it all for himself, how? Why? The guy is bigger than 5k, he just a bed frame, and a brand new foam, and using iPhone 11, he's rich, yet he still wanted to rob the masses of just 5k.

I fear human beings, just so full of greed and not contented no matter what they have. And if this type of person should enter a political office, you can imagine the tragedy, everybody were very displeased with the way he behaved. The money was sha used to buy meat and cook pepper for everybody.

Everybody in my compound were still asleep at 5:30 am, when I heard a man shouting from our gate, the man was passing a message to our compound. The voice was so loud that it will wake anybody from sleep, and you can't ignore it. The more annoying thing is that the man used something to hit our gate, so as to wake everybody before his loud voice continues. You can't help but listen to him, even though it's annoying.

The man was complaining and shouting, about how people dump refuse close to where he lives, and gave strict warnings that no one should dumb anything there again. He even threatened to physically deal with anyone who dares dump refuse there. I laid on my bed and thought about who the man was, and where this refuse spot is. I was still feeling sleepy, so I only wished that the man finished his talk, and went away so I could have my peace.

In the morning, I asked my neighbors who the man was, only one of them knew; the man's compound was four far compounds away from ours, so this man literally went through to all the houses round his house to give this announcement. There's no way that anybody from our compound will trek that distance to dispose refuse. I wondered where the man got the courage to go round houses at that early hour.

From the man's action, I don't think he is mentally stable, a caution tape is normally used to tape round such place, to show that no one should dump anything there again. Secondly, authority can be involved and the warning will be boldly written, including the fine for anybody who breaks the rule. So in this man's mind, going round houses is intelligent or wise? Someone from a far place can possibly pass by the place and dump something there, will be now execute his threats on such person? There are much easier and effective way of going about things.
