I was very tired after my lectures in the evening, and began walking back home when I met our university security officer, quarrelling with a certain guy in front of the university's sport field, to the extent that they almost exchanged blows. As tired as I was, I was forced to stop and asked what the problem was. The field has a tennis court, basket ball court, football field, and an enough space for leisure and sitout. They were the only ones there.

The guy was about entering the field to have his quiet time, as there was no one else there. The security officer walked up to him and yelled at him to leave the field, the guy picked offense at the harsh behavior from the security officer. The guy told the security officer that he is a student, and asked why he's not allowed to enter the field, the security officer continued his reply in harsh and offensive tone, refusing to give the guy a reason.

This ignited the quarrel that almost led to exchange of fist blows. The field was restricted from student's access, no one was allowed to enter there, that's because a student was raped and killed there last semester, in the dark evening. So since then, the school authority banned everyone from going there, the guy had just returned from his Industrial Training (IT), so he didn't know about it. The security officer was bent on being rude to the guy, other than nicely explaining to the guy.

I explained to the guy why the field was restricted, he was okay with it, but still pissed off at how the security officer talked to him, he didn't know because he wasn't around. The security officer mellowed down after realizing that the guy wasn't around, he apologized to the guy for being harsh to him. The guy accepted the apology and went his way, it was a small issue, but have the potentials of escalating to something very big. The security officer should have been nice in his approach.

The two of them almost fought, if not that I intervened, something a little nice and soft approach would have handled nicely. The security officer was doing his job, but the manner he went about it was offensive. Words have ways of hurting people very deeply, especially when the person is passing through tough times, some sweet words will go a long way in healing the person a bit. No matter the circumstance, the first manner of approach should be gentle and nice, else, you risk sparking a fight that should have never been.

So I met someone today, who told me about how he escaped being slaughtered, not by his own power, but a clear intervention from God. It's been a while since I heard about incidents like this, but it's a proof that God still exists. I nearly shedded tears, he was the only one to make it out, the others couldn't. The incident itself has the power to traumatize anybody regardless, being that close to death, and even saying your last prayers and then you're set free.

According to this guy, he was traveling home last December for Christmas, when the driver diverted and took a road that no one in the bus had an idea of, and gave silly and petty excuses that didn't really make sense. The passengers didn't see it as a big deal, and kept cool. Until the driver stopped at a certain place where there was no house in sight, some armed thugs came out from the bush, and marched all of them to a shrine. The driver knew about this.

The guy said they met other people at the shrine, tied up mercilessly; ropes all round the body from head to toe, they were tied up too. The more touching part is that they were being slaughtered, one after the other, in front of all of them. The native doctor will say some incantation on a person before being slaughtered, the guy narrated how tears flowed in his eyes like a river, very hot tears. Watching someone being slaughtered, and helplessly waiting for your turn.

The guy said his phone was seized and used to video the incident, at this point, you are certain that it's your last moment on earth. This killers are obviously dealers of human part, because they made calls to tell the person on the other end that their order was ready. But when it was his turn, the native doctor after saying the incantation, said that the juju has rejected him, and so he should be freed and returned to where he was picked.

The native doctor asked which church he worships in, and told him to stick to his God very well. His belongings were returned to him, including his phone that was used to video the incident, and the native doctor told the thugs to make sure not to leave even a scratch on the guy's body. And that is how death that was staring at his face turned and left. The guy doesn't even know where the place is, he continued his journey to his home. He testified in church, it's a big testimony, it was God that saved him. He showed us the video in his phone, it looks like the end of the world is near.

Most people do have this belief that the end of a year, and the beginning of a year is meant to be accompanied by tragic incidents, that will claim lives and leaving shocking damages, so it seems, but there are ones that can be avoided. There is this man I normally fill my gas cylinder with, he also welds and repairs fridges and cylinders with leakages. He made top headlines of recent, people say it's manipulation from the spirit realm, I'm not sure of what it is.

On the first week of January, 2025, this man as usual went about his normal business of filling and repairing gas cylinders. His workplace is right in front of house. I don't know what he was thinking, but he welded a cylinder that is filled up with gas, and you know the implications. The cylinder exploded, fire surged through all that premises and killed three people instantly; the owner of the cylinder who is a teenage girl, a man and his son in their shop close by.

The man himself didn't die, but was burnt badly, including his wife and son, the fire caught up anything that was around that place, including house. As at now, the wife and son are still at the hospital, the man is undergoing medical treatment under police custody. Because of it, all roadside gas fillers in this region has been banned for now, till further notice. People's opinion on the matter are much, with some saying it's carelessness, spiritual manipulation, tragic incident that comes with a new year.

I feel pity for the man, no one will do such a thing a purpose, it was a mistake, a costly one. But come to think of it, how will someone with many years experience of filling and repairing cylinders, make such an expensive mistake, that's where people draw their view of spiritual manipulation. Everyone knows that a filled cylinder shouldn't be exposed to fire, but the owner of the cylinder went to weld it, was she manipulated too? You see you can't really say exactly what it is, you can only give opinion.

The more reason you need to start the year with God, and end the year with God. Carefulness, diligence and knowledge about things we deal with still remains the watch word in everything we do, and with God fully involved, I don't think we will have things go wrong like this. I strongly believe that this incident could have been avoided.
