Reliving Youth

Reliving Youth
That evening, I had the pleasure of observing two old men who were clearly the best of friends, reveling in the joy of life at its fullest in the neighborhood hotel swimming pool. As they bobbed in the water, they sang old tunes, danced as if nobody was watching, and seemed to have forgotten whatever troubles they faced back at home. I couldn't help but chuckle at their antics and admire their zest for life.

It was heartwarming to witness them reliving their younger days, their laughter and jokes echoing off the pool walls. They threw stunts into the water, played a game of chase, and did all sorts of entertaining and somewhat daring activities, as if age had no dominion over them. In their shared happiness, they seemed to symbolize the true spirit of friendship and the enduring capacity for joy, no matter the years that have passed.

As I watched from the sidelines, I couldn't help but be touched by the genuine affection and camaraderie they shared. It was a sweet evening, a reminder that friendship and happiness can outlast the passage of time.

The football drama A SHORTA SHORT STORY FOR YOU 💪💪

The football drama A SHORTA SHORT STORY FOR YOU 💪💪
I watched a local football match in a school playing ground that was two years back 🔙 . As I sat down, I asked one of the boys what the score was.
With a smile, he replied; "They are leading us 3-0"😩😩
And I said, REALLY!!😂😂
I have to say you don't look discouräged🥺🥺
"Discouräged?" the boy asked with a puzzled look 😒😒
Why should I be discouräged when the Referee has not blown the final whistle??🌚 💁‍♂️
I have confidence in the team and the managers; We shall definitely overcome!!☺️☺️
Truly, the match ended 4-5 in favor of the boy's team!!🙂🙂
He waved at me gently, with a beautiful smile as he left; I was amazed, mouth wide open; Such confidence; Such beautiful faith🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️
As I got back home that night, his question kept coming back to me😤😤
"Why should I be discouräged when the referee has not blown the final whistle?"
Life is like a game🥺🥺
Why should you be discouräged when The Almighty God is your manager??🌚💁‍♂️ Why should you be discouräged, when there's still life??😒😒Why should you be discouräged when your final whistle has not sounded??🙃🙃The truth is that many People Blow the final whistle themselves🙂🙂
But as long as there is life, nothing is impossible and it is never too late for you🥰🥰
Half time is not full time and HIS calendar for your life is not man's calendar😇😇
Don't blow the whistle yourself☺️☺️
BE ENCOURAGED! DON'T GIVE UP🙏🙏
With God all things are still possible!"🥳🥳
Everyday is a fresh start with potentials🥴🥴keep the Faith 🙏🙏
keep on believing in God 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️
Never over until God the Referee of all referees says it is over🙃🙃
Enjoy your day and God Bless.

Why I Must Stop Arguing About Football

Why I Must Stop Arguing About Football
The air in "Sam Soap's Viewing Centre" in Makurdi vibrated long after the final whistle blew on Man United and Spurs. Sweat stuck to foreheads, clenched fists hung stiffly in the air, and the stale smoke of cigarettes and frustration lingered. The match, a rollercoaster of missed chances and equalising goals, had left its mark.

Philip, draped in his United jersey, eyes as red as the club's colours, stamped on the dusty floor. "Rashford! How? How he miss that, ehn?!" His voice, booming across the room, silenced the groans from the Spurs supporters huddled in the corner.

Agada, decked in Tottenham white, his nose wrinkled in annoyance, retorted, "You talk as if United did anything all game! Bentancur's rocket was pure fire, eh!"

And so it began, the familiar dance of banter turning into a heated debate. Statistics were thrown around like verbal grenades, refereeing decisions dissected with venomous precision, players' mothers dragged into the fray. Philip's voice grew hoarse, Agada's face contorted with righteous fury. The screen, once displaying the Premier League logo, seemed to shrink in the face of their animosity.

Across the room, Madam Cash, wiping down sticky tables with a sigh, watched the scene unfold. She'd seen it countless times before – friendships strained, tempers flaring, all over a ball kicked around by millionaires in faraway stadiums.

It wasn't the passion that bothered her, Madam Cash loved football herself. It was the blindness, the inability to see past club colours and into the shared humanity on the other side. Here, in her dimly lit viewing centre, the lines between United and Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea, faded away. They were all Makurdi boys, struggling with the same tough times, hustling for the same Naira, laughing at the same jokes.

Finally, Madam Cash had enough. "Enough!" she boomed, her voice a clap of thunder in the smoky air. Both Philip and Agada looked at her, startled. "This game is over, but your lives go on," she continued, her gaze sweeping across the room. "Is a goal worth losing a friend, a neighbour? This football, it should bring us together, not tear us apart."

Her words hung in the air, heavy with truth. Philip shuffled his feet, shamefaced. Agada offered a hesitant smile. Slowly, the tension subsided, replaced by a grudging respect.

Later, as the crowd thinned, Philip approached Madam Cash. "She was a beauty, that Bentancur shot," he admitted, a sheepish grin on his face. Agada chuckled and slapped him on the back. "Don't tell your boys that, eh?"

That night, in Sam Soap's Viewing Centre, the football didn't disappear. But amidst the cheers and banter, a new understanding flickered. They were still fans, still passionate, but they were also neighbours, friends, Makurdi boys sharing a love for the beautiful game. And maybe, just maybe, that love was bigger than any rivalry.

Because in the end, it wasn't about who won or lost on the pitch. It was about who we were off it. And on a dusty Sunday night in Makurdi, Madam Cash reminded them and infact all of us, that sometimes, the most important match happens not on the green field, but right here, in the shared space of our lives.

Honestly, I use to argue a lot about football but yesterday's experience has changed that side of me. For good I guess.

Back on the football field

my return to the football field after a hiatus of seven long years. The day started with a mix of excitement and nervousness coursing through my veins as I gathered with my fellow mates for a practice session.

As I laced up my boots, memories of my previous football days flooded my mind, giving me a sense of nostalgia and anticipation. Yet, there was a lingering doubt lingering within me. Would I be able to keep up with the others? Would my skills have rusted away in my absence from the beautiful game?

My worries were not unfounded, for as soon as we began the session, I quickly realized just how rusty I truly was. My first touch of the ball was an awkward stumble, and my passes were woefully off target. It seemed as though my limbs were disconnected from my brain, each movement lacking grace and precision.

My lackluster performance did not go unnoticed by my teammates, who took the opportunity to mock and tease me mercilessly. They jeered and laughed, their unrelenting jibes piercing through my already fragile confidence. The pain of their taunts only fueled my determination to prove them wrong.

With each passing practice, however, I noticed a glimmer of improvement. The muscle memory slowly returned, and my coordination began to resurface. I dedicated myself to long hours of extra practice, honing my technique and stamina. Gradually, I started to regain my touch and find my place on the field.

Then, on that glorious day, it happened. During a practice match, an opportunity presented itself, and I seized it with all the desperation and drive I possessed. The ball soared towards me, and with a flick of my foot, it sailed into the goal, much to the astonishment of my teammates.

In that moment, a surge of joy and pride enveloped me. The years of absence had been worth it for this one glorious moment. The disbelief on my teammates' faces turned to genuine respect, and I couldn't help but bask in their accolades. The feeling of scoring that goal, the rush of adrenaline, made all the struggles and doubts melt away.

Power of good music

Last week, I decided to kickstart my day with a refreshing morning exercise. As I laced up my running shoes and stepped out into the cool breeze, I couldn't help but feel energized and ready to conquer the tracks.

I had just downloaded a bunch of new songs onto my mp3 player, and I couldn't wait to blast them through the loudspeakers as I ran. One song in particular stood out to me - "Do I" by Phyno. Its catchy beats and uplifting lyrics never failed to put a smile on my face.

As I arrived at the tracks, I turned up the volume on my mp3 player, and the familiar intro of "Do I" began to play. The electrifying rhythm filled the air, and I started to jog along to the beat, feeling the music pumping through my veins.

To my surprise, as I ran, I noticed that I had attracted the attention of other early morning joggers. Perhaps it was the infectious energy of the song that caught their ears, or maybe it was my enthusiasm that drew them in. Whatever the reason, I was thrilled to have company on my run.

The clusters of people running beside me joined in on the chorus of "Do I," creating a joyous symphony of voices singing along. It felt like a surreal moment, as if we were all connected by the music, pushing each other to go the extra mile.

With each upbeat verse and powerful chorus, we pushed ourselves harder and faster, united by the music and the shared camaraderie of the morning run. Sweat dripped from our foreheads, but none of us seemed to care. We were too lost in the joy of the moment.

As the song came to an end, we all slowed down to catch our breaths. Smiling and laughing, we exchanged words of encouragement, grateful for the impromptu running community that had formed that morning.

Though the run had started as a solo journey, it had blossomed into an unforgettable group experience, all thanks to the power of music. We bid each other farewell, promising to meet again for more early morning runs filled with laughter, music, and the joy of chasing our fitness goals.

Boy at the Gym

I was jogging into school when the day was greeted with a downpour or rather some drizzle at the time, though it was still a few distance from home, I decided to complete my jogging.

With a slow pace, I headed through the school paths, the tarred paths reflected imaginary dark rays which got me wondering about the physical principle behind the mirage.

I was close to a gymnastics center when the intensity of the downpour increased, I would have continued despite the chilly effect the drops sent down my spine but a look at the next shade (gym house), a friend called out to me.

"what are you doing there", I asked.
Favor is an age mate but wasn't with enough flesh, he equally lacked an appreciable height also.
So you see?
Me asking him what he was doing at the gym house was not out of place.

"I am here to gym...", he was still about to complete his statement when I burst out laughing.

"you want to what?", I knew he couldn't even lift a jug of water without sweating but he claims to be there to lift pounds of weight.
I followed him into the gym house and stood back to watch him make fun of himself.

He quickly approached a weight stand and lifted it with ease. I was surprised and utterly bewildered by the boisterous courage and how he continually lifted and pushed the weight up and below his shoulder level.

He stopped and asked me to try.
Without holding back, I held the weight.
If the small favor could do it, then I too can and even better.

I lifted the weight of the hook and the next thing, I saw myself crashing to the floor. I couldn't believe the sight of myself on the floor as I struggled to get up.

Favor laughed his eyes were almost falling off. He was about making more hilarious remarked when I quickly announced to the public that I didn't stand well and that was why I fell.

I stood up immediately after the gym assistant had taken the weight off me and went for the weight again. This time, I was able to lift it but deep down, I was struggling so hard to retain my stand.

I couldn't continue no more, I stared at the entrance and with a quick jolt, I dropped the weight and dashed out. I heard their laughter roaring across the street but I would rather have that than losing my life.

Yes I Can

Rooney owned a bicycle and most times, people gather to plead with him so they could take a ride but he would always refuse.

I didn't know how to ride a bicycle then but I thought it was easy and all it should take is just to climb it and pedal in a clockwise direction.

I was looking at a movie at Rooney's family television when I heard his mother screamed at Rooney.
"you must go and bring back the bags!" Rooney's mum shouted as she unplugged the television from the fuse.

After series of word-fight between them, Rooney finally agreed to go get the bags of kernels. He asked that I followed him which I agreed with a condition that I was going to ride his bicycle afterwards.

"are you sure you can ride this thing?" he asked.
"yes I can ", I replied almost immediately.

Deep down I knew that I couldn't ride a bicycle but I don't want to forfeit my repayment so I climbed on it expertly and pedaled down a hilly road.

It was so easy at first but suddenly my hand began to shake and I could not concentrate on the road, rather I was focused on my legs.

Before I knew it, I saw myself on the air, the bicycle had jerked me up from the seat.
I let out a scream, who knows, a superhero might show up and save me.

I landed with my buttocks on the hard mud soil. I couldn't breathe, my nyash was on fire.

I struggled and stood up. I left the bicycle there and walked like someone wearing a padlock in-between my thighs to my house.

I can Swim

"Come with me, I am visiting a swimming pool by 2pm today, prepare if you want to join"
My brother said to me when we were done emptying the Sunday rice plates.

When we arrived at the location, people were all over the place, they laughed, dived, struggled and pedaled in the pool.

I was excited and all I wanted was to jump into the pool immediately.
My brother instructed that I trail his steps and stay close to avoid touching stories, which I obeyed.

We started a game, we were to escape from a chaser whenever he approached us.
I loved and enjoyed the game but not so much because I wasn't as good in swimming which made it easier for a chaser to catch me whenever I am targeted.

When the game ended, I stood a side and studied the best swimmers closely to find their trick. After minutes of watching, I went to the center edge of the swimming pool, and started imitating those guys. I flapped and flapped my hand but whenever I got up to check if I had swam to the other side, I was still at the same spot I started.

I Have Never Been This Excited In My Life!.

The thirst for excitement and adventure has never been in short supply for me lately. So I took the trip to Agbor with a friend to experience firsthand pure fun at Park Vega Waterpark, the largest waterpark in West Africa.
That was my first time and I was speechless to see the massive structures and aesthetics of the park.

I went with a friend and for the first time, I saw the child in him as he was beaming with a smile. None of us wanted to leave, I guess that was why we were among the last people to go home.

my best attraction? I love them all, but if I must choose, I don’t know the name, but it’s so dark inside (Black hole and Space hole). I loved how it was built and the different compartments for me were exciting, especially, the big bucket (Aqua tower) that gets filled and starts to pour on you. The facilities and their staff. Their staff were excellent. They were at every section smiling and ready to assist you with anything. You see why I said it’s hard to choose a favourite attraction?
