Been decades

Been decades
Living away from your parents can be very, very hard. So when I was returning back to where I stayed alone as an independent child, I didn't return with foodstuffs and all that. I was just trying to hustle off, you know, without time. I had not much time. I was actually purchasing food until about last week when I got a surprise review from one of my siblings.

As I emptied the contents of the bag, I met about 3-4 tubers of yam, no vex say I no remember the exact number, e get why. Nothing gladdened my days as much. Can you believe that throughout this year, I have not had yam? I am very serious about it, and many will doubt this, but this is the truth.

Immediately I saw these yams, I quickly went and refilled my gas cylinder, cut the yam into pieces, and cooked a very delicious yam and beans. That day was my birthday, I couldn't lie.
As I'm writing this now, it's just one tuber leftwhich I'll be slicing up for some fresh yam and oil tomorrow mor-mor

Don′t Opt for Daily Pay

Don′t Opt for Daily Pay
I have been reading up on the best way to build a career before I even entered tertiary university. So when I finally got there, I was ready. I had spent months preparing and planning for this moment if I'm to be honest to myself. I knew that getting practical experience while studying was crucial, so I drove right in, trying to mix work with school. After some time searching, I started working at a company, earning a daily wage.

As a student trying to survive the economy of Naija, I encountered a problem: saving money was tougher than I had anticipated. My daily pay seemed to vanish before I could even think about putting some aside. Frustrated but determined, I went back to the books for guidance. I discovered a concept that shifted my perspective entirely.

With renewed clarity, I approached the staff at my workplace and proposed something unconventional: I asked them to hold my daily earnings and push my pay on a monthly basis instead. To my relief, they agreed and that turned out to be one of the best decisions I had ever made.

Despite the challenges I faced along the way, this strategy significantly improved my saving capacity. My finances began to stabilize, and I felt a sense of control that I didnt have before. Though I encountered obstacles and encompassing little debts, I was on a clearer path to saving something tangible.

True Definition of Frustration

True Definition of Frustration
Been asking my uncle for some money. I asked him for a straight one week, which he kept promising he would send the next day. But next day turned into two days. Then unexpectedly, after like three days of consistent asking, he finally sent me a particular amount, and he sent it to my Kuda bank account.

Now, note that my Kuda account was still not upgraded. So immediately, my transaction hung, and they said that I had exceeded the amount for a single deposit. This annoyed me. While I was still trying to solve that issue within that same week, one of my friends stepped on my phone and damaged the screen. My damaged screen was the most painful part. I could have handled the transaction that wasn't going through because I was already making contact with the customer care. Instead, here I was, managing a screen that was broken into pieces while trying to settle the bank problem.

I didn't have the money to repair my broken screen, but asking for help again felt like a never ending challenge. I didn’t know how to approach anyone for money, and for a while, I was trapped.
I knew I needed to contact customer care, but my situation was frustrating. Because whenever they asked me to conform a code or certain pins, I couldn't because my keyboard wouldn't allow.

As the days turned into two, my screen continued to get worse. It got to a point where I couldn't even type alphabets. The most painful part of this whole ordeal was realizing that I couldn’t write my stories. Stories that was my possible hope to get some cash and maybe save to buy a new screen. This inability to express myself through writing felt like a heavy weight on my shoulders. It was undoubtedly one of the most challenging moments of my life.

But two days ago, I finally managed to put together some money. With that very last drop of cash, I got my screen repaired and settled the bank issue that had been hunting me.

Now, I’m back to writing my stories, and I’ve missed sharing them with you all. Happy Sunday!

Ẹ̀gbọ́n adugbo

I was sitting outside of my hostel when I heard some noise across the street.
I went to where the noise was coming from and I saw these small boy arguing with some older youth.
The small boy was arguing with them angrily, and they also were also shouting back at him. Immediately I saw those older youths faces I knew who they were.
As a fresher in a Nigerian University you face a lot of challenges when you first resume.
When I first resumed as a fresher some years ago I faced those struggle but now I know how to maneuver my way.
One of those challenges I faced is these so called Ẹ̀gbọ́n àdúgbò who calls fresh new students and Bill them for money.

I am now in 300 lvl so no Ẹ̀gbọ́n can ride me anyhow.
But as I sit and watch these newly resumed fresher arguing with these guys I got a little interested in The argument.
It goes thus, these Ẹ̀gbọ́n àdúgbò asked the boy to buy something worth of 2000 for them, but the boy kept on insisting that he couldn't drop money as he had nothing on him.
I looked at the young boy and felt kind of proud of him at the same time I felt pity for him.
These Ẹ̀gbọ́ns he was arguing with are hard drug addict who can cause harm to him without feeling remorse, although the boy stood up for himself but he was putting himself to danger.
I wasn't able to watch the whole argument finish because I got a call from someone.
When I later asked some bystanders what happened they said the boy did not pay those Ẹ̀gbọ́ns what they asked for and he walked Scot free.

I was like damn that boy got a nerve but I just hope he wouldn't regret not giving them what they asked for.
