Our end-of-year party on Friday was amazing. Everyone in the compound contributed at least ₦1,000 to make it happen. When the DJ arrived, some of the stronger guys helped unload the big speakers; one of them got a minor injury, but it wasn't serious.

We started the night with a prayer, setting a good tone for the evening. The party had eating, dancing, and even rapping competitions, keeping everyone entertained. It was the most fun I'd had in a long time.

Dinner was a delicious serving of yam and egg sauce, which everyone enjoyed in high spirits. I decided to call it a night around midnight, thinking the dancing might get a bit too wild for me.

Throughout the party, I had a great time watching others dance to Amapiano and other popular songs. Although I didn't have the energy to join in, being part of the lively atmosphere was more than enough for me.

A few weeks ago, someone called me about a piece of land for sale. The deal sounded great, and when I asked where it was, I was surprised to hear it was near my village. The idea of owning land close to home seemed perfect, so I decided to check it out for myself.

About a week later, I met up with the agent to survey the land. He assured me that all the documents were ready and said once I paid, everything would be handed over, and I’d legally own the land. At the time, everything seemed legit. I didn’t question it too much and told him I’d get back to him in a week.

A few days later, I was out with my brother and casually mentioned my plan to buy the land. Curious, he asked for the location. When we went there together, he recognized the place immediately. He told me the land belonged to an elderly man who hadn’t said anything about selling it.

It was a shocking realization. I couldn’t believe someone would go so far to take advantage of my lack of knowledge. If my brother hadn’t stepped in, I might have lost my money on a piece of land that wasn’t even for sale.
That experience taught me a hard lesson: always double-check and never take things at face value, especially when it comes to property. Scammers are out there, and they’re ready to exploit anyone who doesn’t know better.

I had spent the whole day packing, something I hadn’t done for such a long trip in over six months. Finally, the day I’d been waiting for had come. As I sorted through my things, my friend arrived later in the morning. She brought pap along with her, and we quickly enjoyed it with fried potatoes and some rice we had lying around.

We spent the next hour catching up, talking about everything and nothing. Laughter filled the room until she eventually got tired and decided to head out. After she left, I stretched out on my bed, thinking about the trip. Before I knew it, my eyes grew heavy, and I drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up, the sunlight had already begun to fade, it was evening. I felt drained and knew I needed a little pick-me-up. I headed to the mall, hoping to grab something that would give me a burst of energy. I ended up buying a bottle of chocolate drink. It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but it did the trick and lifted my spirits.

With my energy back, I decided to take a slow stroll, enjoying the cool evening air. Nature felt like an old friend, comforting and familiar.
As night crept in, I made my way home, feeling both excited and nostalgic. It was time to say goodbye, for now. I promised myself that nature and I would meet again next year.
