I went to the market today with my friends to retrieve my phone. This phone was particularly important to me because I had saved up five crucial emails on it, which I submitted for an online work application. I even drafted an email to resume work before the phone began to malfunction unexpectedly, getting stuck on the Samsung Galaxy interface and not progressing past that point. No matter what I tried, it just wouldn’t boot up properly.

My friends were incredibly supportive during this ordeal. They encouraged me to keep seeking help, taking me to various experts in the market in hopes that we could find a solution to the problem. Despite their efforts, as the day went on, I began to feel more and more disheartened.

In the end, after numerous attempts and consultations, we came to the last resort: claiming the phone, but I felt very bad because I didn’t succeed in preserving my important emails. I had started the day in a cheerful mood, but by the end, I was left feeling defeated, knowing that I had lost something so significant.

Enough for one day

So, I got a very bad haircut from one barber like that. I can’t tell exactly what was wrong with his hands, but he messed up my hair in a way that made me question if he was even trained. Discovering this fact, he tried to correct it but ended up making it even worse! He kept thumping on my head nervously, his hands shaking as he tried to fix the disaster he had created.

The chairs in the barbershop was under pressure, suffering under the weight of my anxiety as I watched chunks of hair fall around me.
After what felt like an eternity, he stepped back and proudly proclaimed, “The end of III world war"

I looked in the mirror and could barely recognize myself! It was as if my hair had been attacked by.. What's the name of that machine that they use to cut grass?

The other customers in the shop tried to control their laughter, but I saw right through their eyes and couldn’t help but join in. As I paid the barber and left, I vowed to never take my regular barber for granted again.

I branched along the market to buy a face cap that would cover my shame—my hair looked like it had just survived a crash. Well, I bought the cap, put it on, and started walking majestically. At least the side of my hair that showed was somewhat manageable, unlike my hairline at the forehead.

But then, unfortunately, as I was passing by a group of girls, I noticed a familiar face among them. She reached out to me for a handshake, and as she drew closer for a hug, she mistakenly knocked off my cap! The girls erupted into horrid laughter that left me in shock. But I still managed to comport myself.

Double Wahala

Double Wahala
was in an electronics shop today because I needed to replace my phone charger, which was damaged by high current. The shop was filled with customers and cost me to spend longer time. As I walked down the lined with various electronics, the owner of the shop called me over to help. After looking at a few options, I decided to buy a new charger.

I had heard funny stories about cheap chargers causing issues, so I opted for the higher-priced one. It was 5500 Naira, but they assured me it was worth the investment because it charged more efficiently and was designed to last. They also had a 3000 Naira option, but I wanted something reliable.
When i got back home, I plugged in the new charger to test it out and it was working fine, it charged my phone as fast as I had hoped too.

I left the phone to charge and went out, When I returned home later, I checked my phone and was happy to see it was already fully charged. I picked it up to use it for a bit but when the battery level dropped, I plugged it back in to charge, but when I picked up the phone from my bed, I noticed something troubling. The wire was shaky and didn't seem to fit the charging hole. It really offended me, something that I thought I had made a wise investment.

I shook the cord a bit, feeling frustrated that I had to deal with this already. As a last resort, I wrapped the cable around my phone and that was finally when it began charging again.

prawns bite

prawns bite
It was my first time visiting a five-star hotel. I had always heard about all this big five-star hotels from distant friends or seen them in movies, but about two days ago, I finally had the chance to go with my friends to a particular hotel. They served some exquisite French dishes and various foreign foods that I had never encountered before since wey dey born me.

Out of curiosity, I decided to try the prawns. I later learned they were actually giant crayfish, but I am sure what to call them, the name is nowhere to be rembered in my head. I went for the giant prawns, thinking they would be thick and crispy and dry like the normal crayfish, but to my surprise, they were incredibly soft and fresh with a life changing taste.

They tasted just like fried fish, but even better, and I loved every single bite of them. The accompanying stew was fantastic, seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of salt and spices. It was my first experience tasting foreign foods, and I still can’t remember what it was called, but it left a lasting impression on me.

I just remembered it's name- SHRIMPS!
I had to pay some several notes of 1k but then my greedy friends who opted for more sumptuous meals have better explaining to do.

Banking troubles

Banking troubles
I went to a cafeteria to buy some fries, my favorite snack. I was really excited to finally get to the front of the line, but then I opened my Wema bank app to make a transfer and it kept saying "error in transaction." I felt so frustrated!

While I stood there, I could see all kinds of delicious fries being served. The smell made my mouth water, but I couldn't buy any because my bank was giving me trouble. I had to step aside from the queue, while others continued to get their food.

I waited for about 10 minutes, hoping my bank would start working again. Finally, I was able to make the transfer! But when I tried to go back to the queue, I realized I couldn't just jump in. I had to wait until someone let me back in.

It was a little annoying, but in the end, I got my fries and It was worth the wait, and I learned to always check if my bank is working before I go out.

After that event, I hardly stand or wait to purchase anything outside without first testing if my bank is working fine

Untrusting

I saw a picture of two pairs of shoes that looked really cool. They caught my eye right away! I was so curious that I decided to investigate them further. I looked up information online to see if they were good quality. I found out that many people said they loved the shoes and that they were really good.

So, I decided to buy them! I found out that they cost a bit more than if I went to the store, but I was excited. When the shoes arrived, I was really happy with how they looked. I checked them carefully, and the quality seemed good.

But when I wore the shoes for the first time, something strange happened. With each step I took, I noticed that the bottom, or sole, of the shoe started to break. It felt like the sole was wearing out very quickly, and I was disappointed.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I discovered that the sole of the shoe was wearing out. So I took it to a shoe man to examine what exactly was the cause of the problem, whether it's just the nature of the shoe or just the way it's supposed to be. So he confirmed that the heel was expired and I would need to change it into a new one. Remember, this is a foreign product, you know how costly buying their parts were.

Patience under pressure

This morning, I woke up later than usual. I wasn’t feeling too strong, so I decided to make something simple which was Indomie with eggs. I quickly got dressed and headed out to buy the eggs from a nearby shop. When I arrived, the shop was busy. One person was cutting meat, while the other was helping a woman who had come with her husband to buy eggs. I had no choice but to wait for my turn.

After what felt like forever, the woman finished buying her eggs and was heading back to her car. Just as she was about to get in, she hit her foot on something, and the bag of eggs she was holding fell to the ground. Everyone around shouted at once, but the husband calmly stepped out of the car. Without saying a word, he started picking up the eggs, sorting out the unbroken ones, and putting them back into the bag.

The woman looked so frustrated, and it seemed like she wanted to vent her anger, but her husband calmly told her not to worry. His tone was so gentle that it surprised me. He didn’t raise his voice, didn’t blame her, just quietly went about fixing the situation. It was a level of self-control I wasn’t expecting.

Meanwhile, the ladies at the shop couldn’t stop talking about the incident. Some were laughing, others were commenting on how eggs are too expensive to waste. But the man ignored all of it. He didn’t engage or get distracted. Once he was done packing up the good eggs, he got back into the car with his wife, and they drove off as though nothing had happened.

premarket survey

I've always had the habit of buying my Christmas clothes very early enough because I know by December things will get very expensive and then considering the traffic and the stress of going to the market by then. So yesterday I left for a pre-market survey, checking for the latest designs and possibly what will be the reigning fashion for the ladies for the season.

Trust me, we've got so many designs in the market, and I felt like going for all. One of the biggest issues I had all through my tour was the problem of choice. They were all looking beautiful, that I couldn't just define what I wanted for myself, but at last I was able to lay my hand on a few of them, and was very much okay with my choice.

The moment of truth let's hear the prices, I knew things have become very expensive, but with the prices in the market, I doubt if I will be able to pay for any at the moment, and besides, I only came for a survey. On the other hand, I had wasted both my time and energy going to the market, so since I couldn't pay for any of the clothes, I decided to just buy a few foodstuffs. Anyhow, I needed to survive first before going for clothes.

Always go with a list

Always go with a list
In the market today, I wanted to buy some very spicy stuff for my food. I was looking for good condiments that would make my meal taste better. Since I already had spaghetti at home, I aimed to spend just a little amount on maybe some meat, tomatoes, green beans, onions, pepper, and other spices.

After I was done shopping, I had to recalculate and recalculate again after checking my balance. I had already spent over 10,000 Naira, and I couldn't wrap my head on what I bought.
Let's break it down: I got meat for 2,500 Naira, and then there was a short sized bottle of groundnut oil for 4,000 Naira. I think that’s what took the money.

I couldn't believe that I had spent such an amount when I just wanted to cook a very small meal and enjoy myself for the day. That amount was supposed to last me for a week or two! laughs But it’s alright; let’s hope for another day and a better week ahead.

Next Day

Next Day
decided to get a mackintosh for my bed. I didn't have any particular problem, but sometimes when I removed my bed sheet to wash it, I would accidentally stain the bed itself. This really irritated me because I didn’t know how to wash the original fabric used to make the bed.

So, I thought that making a mackintosh would be a good solution. I measured the sizes I needed and took it to a tailor last week to start the work.

After I retrieved the finished work yestraday, I tried to insert my bed into the mackintosh, but it wouldn’t fit. I had took the proper measurements, but clearly, I must have made a mistake somewhere or the tailor was trying to conserve the material.
On top of that, I was frustrated about the price I had to pay for this. The tailor had raised the prices of everything, blaming it on the economy. I ended up paying about 12,000 Naira for the material, while usually, it wouldn’t cost more than 8,000 Naira no matter how big the bed is. And my bed wasn’t even that big, just a standard 6 x 5 size.

But it's okay. I’ve already contacted the tailor, and I’ll be taking it back tomorrow to get it fixed. Hopefully, it will work out as I planned.

Don′t Opt for Daily Pay

Don′t Opt for Daily Pay
I have been reading up on the best way to build a career before I even entered tertiary university. So when I finally got there, I was ready. I had spent months preparing and planning for this moment if I'm to be honest to myself. I knew that getting practical experience while studying was crucial, so I drove right in, trying to mix work with school. After some time searching, I started working at a company, earning a daily wage.

As a student trying to survive the economy of Naija, I encountered a problem: saving money was tougher than I had anticipated. My daily pay seemed to vanish before I could even think about putting some aside. Frustrated but determined, I went back to the books for guidance. I discovered a concept that shifted my perspective entirely.

With renewed clarity, I approached the staff at my workplace and proposed something unconventional: I asked them to hold my daily earnings and push my pay on a monthly basis instead. To my relief, they agreed and that turned out to be one of the best decisions I had ever made.

Despite the challenges I faced along the way, this strategy significantly improved my saving capacity. My finances began to stabilize, and I felt a sense of control that I didnt have before. Though I encountered obstacles and encompassing little debts, I was on a clearer path to saving something tangible.

Gold in dirt

I remember writing in one of my stories that, no matter how small the hustle is, you should always put in your best effort and keep pushing forward.

Recently, I was invited to feature during my faculty week, and I was given the honor of capturing every perfect moment through pictures, to takd pictures of scenes that would be great for magazines and visually appealing to everyone.

When we negotiated the price, I didn't expect to make a significant amount of money. I had already set my mind on a particular amount that I thought was fair. However, to my surprise, I was paid before the event even took place.

Being paid in advance was not the surprise or the miracle.
Throughout the week, each day, I got paid to take private pictures asides from the regular group pictures. People who had wanted themselves alone or with a special selection of people had to pay from their pockets.
Guess what? I made more money from these private shoots than the money that I was paid from the faculty and I give all thanks to God.

Poor business skills

Today, I was just returning from my aunt's place when I caught sight of some clothes. There were three pairs of shorts, and they looked very attractive.

I approached the seller and bargained with him. The seller didn't seem to be very accommodating because I offered him a fair price. I priced the shorts at 3,000 Naira, while he wanted to sell them for 3,500 Naira. But I wasn't looking to buy just a single pair; I wanted to buy all three.

At a reasonable price, he could have made a sale. Let's not even say 3,000 Naira. If he had lowered the price for each pair from 3,500 Naira to 3,200 Naira, I would have considered it. But he didn't agree to any other amount, so I walked away and went home. I wasn't feeling sad about it because after walked a distance, he called me back but my ego wouldn't let me turn back.

Didn′t get the Gist

Didn′t get the Gist
I was at my usual restaurant trying to purchase some food this evening when I caught sight of people gathering. It wasn’t just a few people oo, it was a large number of people, as if something drastic had happened at that spot.

I didn’t try to figure out what was going on, I was just in a hurry to get my food and rush back home to eat because I was hungry, to be frank.

Then, all of a sudden, I spotted someone familiar in the crowd. It was as if she was the center of attraction, and she was shouting at the top of her voice. I couldn't understand what was going on; she was just shouting. I knew this girl was somewhat of a troublemaker-not a troublemaker per se, but she was a kind of violent person who always liked to pick a fight. You would always see her raising her voice, trying to make an impact...all that kind of things, and I disliked it. When I spotted her, I was like, "Oh, I should call ?, should I go and identify to know her?, should I go closer to just know what was going on?
All sorts of soliloquy came by my head and I think I went with none of the above.
I was home as soon as my food was handed over to me.

From Nothing to Something: My Journey as a Nigerian

From Nothing to Something: My Journey as a Nigerian
Growing up in Nigeria, I’ve seen a lot. Like most youth in my country, I’ve faced tough challenges – many people around me turned to scamming as a way out. Some see it as a quick fix, but I wanted to take a different path, even though it hasn’t been easy. I chose to work honestly, even if it meant struggling for a long time.

The reality is, I haven’t “cashed out” big yet – I haven’t even made up to 100k. But I believe that by keeping my focus and working hard, I’ll get there one day. When that day comes, it’ll be my own victory, achieved without hurting anyone or resorting to crime.

I owe a big thank you to platforms like Mindviewers, which have given Nigerian youth like me a way to earn online without a monetized social media account.I owe a big thank you to platforms like Mindviewers, Hawkit, Free Cash, and Binance, as well as my own trading bot. Even though the profits might be small, they’re helping me move forward step by step in my legit online business. This journey isn’t just about money; it’s about knowing that I’m going forward the right way.

A stubborn customer

As a fashion designer, I have a straightforward policy: pay an advance before I start, then complete payment once the work is done. But this one customer decided to test my patience. She wanted to make Ankara dresses for herself and her two daughters, but instead of paying the agreed advance, she paid less. Since it was her first time, I decided to let it slide, hoping to build trust.

After putting in the work and finishing the dresses, she completed only the advance payment and asked to take them home, promising she’d settle the rest within a week. I let her take them, trusting she’d keep her word. But two weeks passed, and I didn’t hear anything. I messaged her politely about the balance, and she just ignored me. Eventually, I called, and she simply said, “I’ll pay soon.”

Months went by, two to be exact, and I hadn’t received a thing. Then, on Sunday, I saw her with her husband at an event. We didn’t exchange greetings, I just kept my distance and didn’t bring it up.

Surprisingly, when I got home that evening, I received a payment alert from her husband. Maybe she got worried when I didn’t acknowledge her at the event, or perhaps her husband took things into his own hands. Either way, thank God the payment finally came through.

An Error that was Costly

An Error that was Costly
There is this woman who owns a shop down the street. She usually has a lot of goodies and sells almost all basic commodities. Her shop is mainly focused on food and provisions, more than the other shops around, which is why I preferred going there. I didn’t want to face the disappointment of not finding what I wanted elsewhere.

So, this particular day, I went in to buy something. After making my purchase, she mentioned an account number that wasn’t working anymore and warned people not to transfer any money there. She had given me that heads-up about two days ago. But the devil was at it today, because I completely forgot about her warning.

I made a transfer of 1,500 Naira to that very account. When we realized what happened, she fell silent. After we pointed out the error and confirmed I had mistakenly sent the money to the wrong account, she remained quiet. It was one of those moments when you could feel the tension in the air and feel embwrrased.

I stood for some minutes hoping that the seller might come up with a suitable idea that would be convenient for both of us, but she didn't.
Checking my balance on Opay, I realized that I was running very low on funds but to save myself from embarrassment and time wastage, I duplicated the transfer and walked out in anger.

Please this story took me some hours, just help me react to it please.

packaged Trick

I was in the market today, and I found myself watching this fascinating scene before me. Let me tell you guys about it. A guy was switching wallets, and it was captivating to see how he switched three wallets around, moving them into different positions. Then he will then ask us who had gathered to identify the one that had a red stripe on it.
I’d seen him do this countless times, about four times, to be specific, and each time I had guessed correctly when he opened the wallets to confirm my choice.

Feeling confident, I was about to step up to stake my 1,000 Naira and win the 3,000 Naira prize for any correct guess when suddenly, another man came up first and handed over his 1,000 Naira. I watched as he performed his usual wallet switch, and I made a pick like I had done the past times in mind, absolutely sure it was the right choice.

To my surprise, the man beside me chose the same wallet I did. We both stood there, waiting with confidence, but then When he revealed the wallets, it wasn’t the one we had both chosen that had the red stripe. We were dumbfounded, I looked at the man who made a stake as his eyes were changing to a cloudy red balls. It felt like a trick, and deep down I knew there was something off, but how sure can one be?

Scam alert

Scam alert
Yesterday, I received a call around 4 PM from an unknown number. The caller claimed that someone had referred my contact to him. Naturally, I was curious and asked for his details. He gave me another number to call, saying that the person on the other end was the one I would be working for. At that moment, it all seemed legitimate, and I didn't think twice about it.

After a short while, I called the number he provided. The man on the other line introduced himself as Mr. Anthony, a contractor who specializes in supplying anti-corrosive materials for underground pipes. He said he wanted to offer me a one-year contract. The conversation felt professional, and I started to get excited about the opportunity. Mr. Anthony even mentioned a specific location for his company and gave me the number of the CEO, which made everything seem even more official.

Feeling optimistic, I decided to reach out to the CEO. When I finally got through, the CEO also seemed pleasant, but then he dropped a bombshell: I would have to pay for the goods to be delivered. At that moment, all my excitement turned to doubt. I started connecting the dots and realized that something was off. I had never met any of them in person, and asking me to pay upfront was a huge red flag.

The whole situation felt like a well-orchestrated scam. I couldn’t believe how cleverly they had set it up, making everything sound so real and convincing. From the referral to the professional tone of the calls, it all seemed designed to put me at ease.

I realized how important it is to trust your instincts. It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement of a potential opportunity, especially when it seems so legitimate. I’m just grateful I caught on before it was too late.

From desire to reality

From desire to reality
There was a beautiful bag that always caught my eye whenever I walked by the boutique. Its lovely design and bright colors drew me in, and I found myself dreaming about owning it. Every time I saved enough money to buy it, life seemed to throw unexpected expenses my way, usually a medical bill or something related to family.

Determined not to let this bag get away from me again, I came up with a plan. I talked to the shop owner and asked if I could pay for it in installments. To my relief, she agreed. This was my chance! I made the first payment and walked away feeling hopeful and excited.

The first month went well. I carefully kept track of my spending, and each time I made a payment, I could almost feel the bag in my hands. But just when I started getting into a good rhythm, life threw me another curveball. I had to deal with a family issue and ended up with an unexpected expense that drained my savings. Suddenly, I was struggling to make the next payment.

I felt frustrated and defeated, but the thought of that bag kept me going. I refused to give up. After a few days, I picked myself up and thought of ways to make some extra money through freelancing, selling things I didn’t use anymore, and taking on odd jobs. Little by little, I started to rebuild my savings.
Finally, after what felt like forever, I made the last payment.

The day I walked into the boutique to pick up the bag, I could hardly contain my excitement. When the shop owner handed it to me, I felt like a rich person.

The Untold Story: working experience

The Untold Story: working experience
You all still remember the last ASUU strike?
We the students had presumed wrongly that it was only going to last a few weeks, but few weeks turned into months and into several months.

During the third month, my family unarranged talked about how several months had passed and how I had wasted doing nothing beneficial. Mom further suggested that if I was interested in working to earn an extra income rather than just sitting back at home and claiming that I was studying python (something she never understood) on my phone all day, that I could rather get myself busy with something and still make extra money for myself.

I took the night to think about it and the next day, I affirmed to my mom's suggestions and then she also had to reach out to one of our relative working at a foreign charcoal factory within the state.

Well, after some few minutes of negotiation my mother called out informing me that a space was waiting.
The factory work, she said: was going to add to my confidence, experience and the best part, I was going to earn extra income for myself.

The days after, I was set for the journey, leaving behind my smartphone, and anything that could distract my focus.
I went with one of my button phones instead.

After I arrived at the large factory, I met with the relative who showed me around and instructed to always call to his attention whenever I needed anything.

About the factory, there was many things to talk about: bad network, the smokey environments...
everything was just dissatisfying for me but I was kind of uhmm trying to adapt.
Gaining an experience on this field was priority at that moment.
