Visit to Kanji

Visit to Kanji
I explored the area around the Nigerian Kanji Dam, the well-known electric dam in Naija It wasn't very close, but it was in the vicinity of my school, and I had never visited or seen how it worked. Today, I went on a little trip with three friends to check it out.

We took a vehicle that brought us straight to the entrance. After making the necessary arrangements and chatting with the security personnel, they ushered us in and gave us some instructions on how to behave. We paid a small fee and then entered the dam area. We found a good spot and admired the impressive concrete structure.

The structure of the dam was massive, and we stood in awe, looking at the waterfalls. There was a designated area nearby where people could play and have fun in the water, though it was a bit farther from the main dam. This spot was perfect for tourists who wanted to enjoy the beauty of the waterfall.

Unfortunately, we hadn't prepared for swimming or getting wet, so we could only watch, wishing we could dive in or magically produce our swimming suits. But our main purpose was to explore the area around our school, and we hadn't planned for swimming.

Afterall, it was a remarkable experience and a great sight to see. I encourage everyone to visit the Kanji Dam and see what generates electricity for your country.

Scaped

About two weeks ago, I bought a shampoo that I wasn't familiar with. I didn’t have much information about it in terms of hair conditioning, but when I saw it, I asked the seller for recommendations. She assured me it was of high quality, so I decided to take it home and try something new. Usually, I don’t buy products that I don’t trust or haven’t used before because they often lead to problems. However, this time, I thought it would be a good idea to experiment and hoped it could become a recommendation for others.

At first, my hair felt nice after using the shampoo. It had been dry and lacking life, but it seemed to improve after the wash. Unfortunately, just two days later, my hair started to fall out rapidly. I noticed it especially when combing my hair and felt the strands slip through my fingers.

Panicking about my hair, I called my sister, who is passionate about cosmetics and hair products. She suggested a simple remedy: the water extracted from parboiling rice. I was skeptical, but I decided to give it a try. I used it once, then again, and my hair looked better than it had in a long time.

Initially, I didn’t want to give any credit to the conditioner, but now I wonder if using the conditioner along with the water from parboiled rice might really be the secret. For those who know, I think the water from parboiled rice works wonders for hair.

Village people dey

Village people dey
I was walking very slow to school today after I prepared early for classes. I started off walking slow and then when I was halfway in the journey, I saw one of my female crush, a beautiful girl, Favour is her name, when I saw her from afar, she was ahead of me. So I increased my pace in order to reach her so we could just talk and reach the school together.

We were conversing and I was maintaining my composure and everything was in order but all of a sudden my village people decided to call and my shoe began to make my toes uncomfortable.

When I looked, the mouth of the shoe was already open, the sole had been cut off and I hadn't known this all along.

Immediately I noticed that my shoe was in bad shape, I got a little bit embarrassed and I hoped she wouldn't look at my shoe. As we walked on and I do not know whether she noticed, but every eye that I saw seemed like they were looking at my shoe even when they weren't looking.
I couldn't go back home after the long walk, there was no repair shop around that area too, leaving me with the option to walk until I was close to my department.

It Worked

It Worked
There’s a street I pass by often in the evenings, and it’s always lively with children playing. They greet me with so much joy whenever they see me, their energy contagious. But one day, something felt off. From a distance, I noticed the street was unusually quiet. None of the kids were there, which was strange because nothing ever seemed to stop them from playing.

As I got closer, I noticed the ground looked rough, with marks of little feet and scattered game equipments. It was clear they had been playing there earlier. I brushed aside my curiosity, thinking they might have gone home early, and continued walking. Suddenly, out of nowhere, they all jumped out of their hiding spots, shouting, "Uncle, we played you!" I couldn’t help but laugh. These kids had actually planned to prank me, and it worked perfectly.

One of the kids ran up to me with his report card in hand, beaming with pride. He had finished the term in third position and couldn’t wait to show it off. I congratulated him, then asked why he hadn’t gone home yet since school was over. His answer was predictable; they were too caught up in playing to even think about it. I reminded them that it was getting dark, and it was time for everyone to head home.

But of course, these kids weren’t letting me off that easily. They insisted I couldn’t send them away without giving them something, as if it was a tradition I had somehow signed up for. They were so persistent that I couldn’t say no. So, we all walked to the nearest shop, and I asked the store owner to give each of them a sachet of Hollandia yoghurt.

After that, everyone finally went their separate ways, and I continued my walk with a smile, knowing I had made their evening just as they had made mine.

New year hike

After spending Christmas with my parents, I returned to Lagos, and as expected, January came with ridiculous price hikes. But this time, it was unbearable. At the market, onions were being sold as if they were gold. I begged the woman selling them, hoping to get a fair deal, but she refused to budge. I finally managed to buy just one onion and moved on, hoping the other things I needed wouldn’t be as bad.

When I asked for vegetable leaves, the seller handed me a tiny bundle and said it was ₦500. Normally, that same bundle, with more leaves, would have cost around ₦200. I couldn’t believe it. Everything just felt upside down. It was like every seller had decided to double their prices overnight. I thought about all the meals I had planned, and it hit me that cooking in Lagos had become a luxury.

To make things worse, the gas cylinder I had just filled felt like a complete waste of money. What’s the use of gas when there’s hardly anything to cook? Frustrated, I dropped everything I had planned to buy and settled for a loaf of bread. It wasn’t what I wanted, but it was all I could afford.

Internal struggles

Internal struggles
I had practiced my seminar over and over again, going through every point in my head. Yet, as the moment drew closer, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of being unprepared. My heart was racing, and I started doubting myself. To calm down, I tried one of my favorite tricks – turning that fear into a source of confidence. I told myself, "If I can feel this nervous, it means I care enough to do my best."

As I sat outside the seminar room, waiting for my turn, a lecturer opened the door slightly. From where I was, I could see Patrick standing confidently, arms crossed, answering questions from the panel. I watched closely, and instead of feeling more nervous, I felt relief. He was almost done, which meant my wait was nearly over too. The thought of finally getting it over with eased my tension.

When Patrick stepped out, he gave me a reassuring dap and said, "You’ve got this!" That simple gesture boosted my confidence even more. I stood up, took a deep breath, and walked into the room. My nerves were still there, but they didn’t overwhelm me. I focused on everything I had practiced and spoke clearly, answering their questions as best as I could.

To my surprise, the seminar turned out to be a huge success. The panelists were engaged, nodding in agreement, and their questions felt manageable. By the time I walked out of that room, I couldn’t believe how well it went. What I thought would be terrifying ended up being one of my proudest moments. Fear had tried to hold me back, but in the end, it fueled my success.

Planned Surprise

Planned Surprise
Yesterday was my best friend's birthday, and earlier, her elder sister had called me to help plan a wonderful surprise for her. I collaborated with her sister to create an exciting and fitting surprise for my best and closest friend. They felt like sisters to me, and I always felt very comfortable around them. Both their mother and father, along with their other siblings, treated me as one of their own. In fact, they made me feel incredibly special whenever I visited. Their mother often came to visit me as well.

Our friendship had not only brought us closer but also turned our families into a friendly, extended family. The bond we shared meant so much to all of us. So, I went to help plan the birthday surprise yesterday morning, deciding to visit randomly without prior notification.

When I arrived, my friend was suspicious about why I would visit so early in the morning, especially since I had mentioned I would be busy that day. I had to quickly come up with an excuse to dodge her questions. I then turned to our older sister and offered to accompany her to the market, which kept my friend from suspecting anything.

At the market, we gathered everything we needed for the surprise: a special cake, some festive decorations, and a money bouquet. It was just awesome! When we returned, we made sure to keep my friend distracted while we set up and decorated her room.

When we finally brought her in, it was a shock to her eyes, she was startled at the loads of surprises, all she could do was shout, and jump in joyful celebration. She was utterly amazed and so happy and I’m truly grateful to have her in my life.

City Ego

It had been a long time since I played football. I used to enjoy football when I was back in the village, before I entered university. But now that I’m in university and living in the city, I feel like playing football is somewhat of a village thing or a wild activity. I’m not trying to ridicule the sport—it's actually enjoyable and very entertaining. It’s just that, you know, the city vibes and everything.

When I return to the village for holidays, I don’t really fancy playing on the dusty fields and grounds; it just feels out of place for me. However, I decided to put aside my fancy city-boy attitude and participate in the community game event. I hadn't realized how much I had lost in terms of my skills and regular playing until I started the football match. To my delight, I was pleased to take the wing position, number 11.

That was how the game started, and then we began playing. Everybody was just too fast for me. I couldn't even see the ball. The moment the ball touched my leg, it flew past me so fast that I barely saw it. We were playing, and they were scoring against our team, and I felt like I was the culprit. They always said that my wing required more action and participation, but I was just too slow.

They even planned on removing me from the game, but I wouldn’t let them. I couldn't let them ruin my confidence or cause me embarrassment. So, after the opponent scored their second goal, I decided to take off my shoes. That was when I began to recover my skills and expertise. I refused to let my city ego or whatever it was to affect my playing. I took it upon myself to push through.

With new found determination, I increased my speed and improved my skills. That was how I scored the first goal and then the second goal, too. I also made an assist pass to the 4th goal. We took the win and I was just too proud as people hailed my name.

Set out for rest

Set out for rest
I was so bored today. After exhausting almost everything on my phone, I started early in the morning with a novel I had read, a particular one that had just a few pages left to finish. Once I finished that, I looked at the last movie I had on my phone. Then, I went online on Mindviewers, where I browsed through some headlines and acquainted myself with the updated news. After that, there was nothing more left to do; I was so bored, and my phone seemed very empty.

I entered TikTok, but I just couldn't feel the excitement from it. They had clogged up my feed with old videos I'd already watched and uninteresting clips, so I had to exit the app. As I couldn't find anything to do, I scrolled through my app menu, and that's when I discovered a new app.

It was a game I had downloaded about three months last year but hadn't played until now. I had spent around 500MB trying to download it because the advertisement looked awesome, and I was eager to try it out. Now that I noticed the game again, I decided to play it and see what it was like.

I was impressed by the graphics and overall design. The only bad thing about it was that it required data to play, which limited its usability for me. I didn't want to use up all my data just because I was playing a game. However, it did occupy my time for several hours, giving me a fun distraction while I postponed doing other things.

The cost of conformity

The cost of conformity
When my lecturer yelled, "If you bring that hair back to my office, I won't attend to you," I knew she meant business. She was one of the strictest in my department, and while most of the other lecturers never minded my hair since I always kept it combed and neat, this particular woman seemed to have a serious problem with it. Her irritation was clear, and I didn’t want to risk any issues with her course.

Stepping outside, I thought long and hard about my options. Keeping my hair meant appearing stubborn, and that could backfire during the semester. Reluctantly, I decided it was best to trim it down. I walked to the nearest barbershop, sat in the chair, and told the barber to make it low. It felt like a small price to pay for peace with my lecturer, but little did I know it would open a whole new set of problems.

The reactions were immediate and brutal. My friends and classmates couldn’t stop teasing me. They said I looked like a monkey, a new primary school student, and even a newly admitted boarding school kid. The taunts came from everywhere. People weren’t used to seeing me with a low cut, and honestly, I wasn’t used to it either. It was embarrassing, but I had to endure their jokes and awkward stares for the next two months until exams were over.

From that experience, I made a decision: never again. No matter who complains or what the stakes are, I’ve sworn to keep my hair. That semester taught me more than just academics, it taught me the cost of trying to please everyone.

friends for ages

friends for ages
It had been a long time since I last visited my childhood friend, Sarah. We had grown up together, but life took us in different directions, and distance kept us apart. When the holiday came, I was excited to finally have the chance to see her again.

When I arrived at her house, I couldn’t believe how beautiful she had become. Her smile was just as warm as I remembered, and her laughter filled the room with joy. We hugged tightly, both of us feeling the happiness of being reunited after so long.

We spent hours talking about our lives. I shared stories about my job and my adventures, while she told me about her studies and the things she loved to do. It felt like no time had passed at all.

After catching up, I offered to help her with some house duties. We washed dishes, tidied up, and even baked some cake together. It was fun working side by side, and we laughed as we made a little mess in the kitchen. The smell of fresh cake filled the house.

Not long we were done and the entire family can't wait to have a taste of want we have going on in the kitchen, no joke but we're very certain in our ability as we cannot disappoint their appetite.

After the meal we both left to grab a few stuff together and it was fun all through recreating some of our childhood memories along the way and smiling like babies

making the most of extra time

making the most of extra time
It was a bright Monday morning, and I was excited but nervous. Today was my presentation day. I had worked hard on it for weeks and couldn’t wait to share it. Even though I had wasted extra time maybe to prepare harder and build this core confidence.

When I got to school, I took my seat in the classroom. The first few students presented, and I felt my excitement grow, and I can't wait to share my thoughts

Some part of me was already telling me that I might not present considering the number of students and the the little delay the lectures had, though they tried to catch up with time

He rushed through the presentations, and I waited for my turn. Just when I thought it was almost my time, the lecture said he couldn’t continue. He was too tired and promised we would start with me next week.

I felt frustrated. I had spent the whole day waiting, and now I had to wait even longer. I walked home feeling disappointed.

When I got home, I dropped my bag and lay on my bed. I thought about how I had imagined sharing my work. But then I realized I still had a week to prepare. I decided to use that time to make my presentation even better. Next week, I would be ready.

INCOMPETENCE

INCOMPETENCE
If you all remember, I wrote a story about my project supervisor and how untalented he was when it came to our meeting schedules. His indolent nature had always deprived us of making progress with our project and seminar work. Knowing this, I proposed submitting a formal letter to address both his laziness and his indifferent behavior toward our work.

After I got in contact with the staff member in charge of student affairs, she advised me to approach my project supervisor gently. She also suggested that she would join in to help encourage him to be more engaged in our meetings.

Following her advice, I arranged a casual meeting with my supervisor, expressing appreciation for his guidance while subtly mentioning the issues we had been facing.

After I had the meeting with him, it became clear that he wasn't acting differently or making significant progress regarding our work. As a group, we decided that it would be better for us to work individually and improve our projects, unlike other groups that were having regular meetings with their supervisors who provided them with guidance and instructions. In our case, we received no specific instructions from him, aside from his attempts to correct our work. Simply coming to school to review our progress appeared to be a major inconvenience for him, resulting in us waiting countless times and weeks without complaints, as we were all just students.

I struggle even now to express my concerns. The main issue arose when it was announced that we would be presenting and defending our seminar work a few weeks after the Christmas celebration. I reached out to him to request that he come and sign our approval form, but he informed me that he wouldn't be returning anytime soon and didn't offer any suggestions.

On the day of the seminar defense, I contacted him by phone, only to have him turn the situation around on us. He claimed that we had been unserious all along and said he had been begging us to take our work seriously. His statement offended me, especially since I was speaking to him through my phone at that moment. It really pissed me off.

To make matters worse, he reached out to other panel members who were judging the seminar defense and recording scores, telling them that we weren't serious. The only approval he granted was for a girl he was interested in, claiming she was the only one who took her work seriously. However, I knew very well that this girl was not serious at all. In fact, that same morning, she had sent me her seminar work to help her arrange into slides. Her references were poorly done, and her outline was terrible. Despite this, I helped her as much as I could and advised her to meet with a cyber cafe expert the following morning, which she did.

Now, we were not able to do our presentations, and I’m still reflecting on the whole experience and the best action to take at this point.

Just the movies, don′t want it real

Just the movies, don′t want it real
I just finished watching a horror movie, and I really enjoyed it. It was incredibly scary and fun. I usually prefer these kinds of movies over others because they keep me on my toes. I love experiencing the thrill, the waves of jitters, and all the shocking moments. The suspense in horror films is often out of this world, and that’s what I enjoy the most.

During the day, I watched the movie until the evening, and then it was time for my bath. I typically take a bath twice a day: one in the afternoon and again in the evening. To be more precise, I prefer bathing close to 10 PM to 11 PM at night. It really helps me sleep better.

So, there I was, just about to take my bath, with scenes from the movie replaying in my head.

Suddenly, a wave of wind blew through the windows, chilling my body, and that’s when the fear really set in. I felt the tension I had been experiencing while watching the movie increase, combined with the cold of the night. Just then, a spider landed on my back, causing me to jump up from my squatting position in fright.

In a panic, I rushed out of the bedroom and decided that I wouldn't let myself be won by mental stress this time. Although I realized just a minute later that it was only a spider that had scared me like that, I was already in a towel drying myself up.

I think I’ll skip the bath for tonight. It’s time for some rest. I’ll see you all later. Goodnight!

Puzzled Language

Puzzled Language
It's been a long while since we started sharing eye contact. I noticed this beautiful girl starting from my first year, 100 level. She was pretty, and I can say for myself that I was too handsome. Most times, I still get most of these girls, you know, under my beck and call. But I was a disciplined guy all the way. Even though someone flirts and they come into my direct message box to message me and text me all sorts of flirty things, I always stay true to myself and my discipline. I've come from a not-too-rich, less able background, and I haven't come to this university to frolic with girls or anything like that. The Lord has continued to sustain me all this while, and I owe Him all my respect and my integrity.

Three years into the university, I think having a girlfriend for myself wouldn't be a bad deal any longer. As I told you before, I believe I need to have that experience, and then this girl came to mind. She has always been secure and has acted disciplined all the way, except when she’s around me. She always likes to sit near me, keeps seats for me during lectures, and frequently checks up on me through phone calls, texts, and physical meetings. I've never heard that she was in a relationship or flirting with other guys, so she seemed like the best option.

I approached her, talked to her, and even took her on a date, but she said we could still be friends. I don’t understand what that statement means, especially since she also said she was not in a relationship.

journey of a new phone

journey of a new phone
I got a new phone over the last two weeks, and I enjoyed using it. I wasn't sure about the system UI and other features of the phone at first, but it turned out to be very nice. It has good RAM and good ROM, and its processing unit is top-notch.

I liked everything about the phone except for three things. First, the battery doesn't last as long as those of Infinix and Redmi phones. The other thing was that it heated up a little bit when I multitasked on the phone. The third thing, which is the most frustrating for me, is that I couldn't find a protective pouch for the phone. Even the screen guard isn't available in the market; they say the edition of the phone is limited. I bought this phone at a high price, and I can't risk it falling to the ground.

Since the phone and its spare parts aren't available anywhere near this market, I find it hard to be truly happy about getting a new phone. If anything happens to my phone’s screen or the touchpad, I’ll be spending a lot.

With prices having doubled, ordering parts online from branches or headquarters in Lagos will cost me a significant amount—approximately 30% of the phone's price and I’m not willing to take that risk again. I’ve already invested a lot in buying the phone, and I don’t feel that I should spend more if anything goes wrong with it. Besides, I simply don’t have the money for that.

My paddy

My paddy
A friend of mine visited me, and while he was on his way, he got some food for himself without getting any for me. We are good friends; we see each other almost every day, we share things together, and we are very cool friends. It’s just that he didn’t get my own plate of food while he was getting his.

He claimed he was hungry and had been in school for several hours from morning until the evening when he came and hadn’t had anything to eat. So, I allowed him to eat, but he finished about half of the plate of food. Then, he received a call from his dad and went outside to answer it. That was when I picked up a new spoon and fed myself with the remaining half.

When he came back in, he was puzzled and then just burst out laughing. He knew he couldn't just eat food while I was there and wouldn’t have any, I no go allow am.

I just maintained my seriousness and continued eating. He cannot intimidate me in my own house. By the way, he was the one who came to visit me; he cannot come here, put me in a tight corner, or make me uncomfortable with the good smell of the food oozing all over the place. I couldn't let that happen. I fed myself and when I was done, got some soft drink for the both of us to complement the mood.

Rice Cheat

Rice Cheat
I went to buy some rice from the market. When I got there, the price was actually like two times the former price, but I already had an idea of this because I had bought rice in the small market on my street. I expected that in the larger market, the price shouldn't be that costly, but I was puzzled to find out that it was almost the same price as those selling in my street.

After I got my rice, I made sure to ask the seller if the rice had any dirt or stones in it, and she assured me that it did not. Then in the evening, I was feeling hungry, so I decided to cook some jollof rice for myself. I had just washed the rice properly and put it into the pot when I noticed that some rice husk was floating on top of the rice. It surprised me because the seller had assured me there wouldn't be any dirt. I scooped out the floating bits, thinking it wasn't a big deal.

I used a sieve to strain out most of the husk and hoped that would be the only problem. Once I was done cooking my rice, it actually came out very sweet, and the aroma filled the air. I was about to eat when I took my first bite, only to realize that there were about two stones in the spoon of rice I had taken. It shocked me; I took another bite, and the stones made it impossible for me to really enjoy the flavor.

I had paid a higher price for this rice, expecting it to be fine and free from any impurities, especially since it was costlier than the one that had chaff or husk. Now, I found myself having to pick through my rice before cooking it, even though I had already paid for the one that was supposed to be picked and fine.

Worst Traveling Experience

Worst Traveling Experience
So I finally have a travelling experience to describe as the worse of all, it was like a nightmare, an unforeseen and unfortunate event. That was when I was traveling home for Christmas, my parents called me early that morning to pack my things and get to the bus park on time, since it's a journey of 12 hours. The first bus leaves my 7:00am, I really tried to be at the park before then, but couldn't, and ended up arriving 30 minutes after the time.

And no other bus in that park was going to my state again, so I went to another place and boarded a very unfamiliar roadside bus park, as long as it was going to take me to my destination. The driver planned to drop off people at three separate destinations, before finally getting to mine, I didn't see any problem with it sha. The bus took off by 9:00am, and got spoilt after an hour, we waited for over two hours before it was repaired.

The bus took off again and got spoilt a second time, this was about 3:00pm in the afternoon, and we have not covered even half of the distance. We waited because we didn't have any other choice, we paid for the fare already. It took the driver till around 6:00pm before it was fixed, and then came up another problem; the bus had no headlamp and it was dark already. The driver had to fixed the headlamp, there is no way I was going to be inside a bus in the night without headlamp, it's simple suicide.

It was as if the driver had just excavated the bus from the earth, after being buried for centuries, things were just spoiling up and down. My parents started calling, I narrated the whole situation to them, they were terribly scared, it was night. The bus moved again around 7:00pm, and on arriving it's first destination around 10:00pm, the driver told us that he can't continue the journey again that night, that we'll have to sleep there at the park and continue again early the next morning.

I called my parents and told them, my mother freaked out and started crying and calling on God, she was terrified how her daughter will sleep at a park in an unknown place. My mum started telling me to text her the plate number of the vehicle, the address of the place, photos and videos of the place, I should switch-on the location on my phone and send her the GPS. My head was on fire through all of this, I shouldn't have joined the bus, but it was too late for that, how to get home safely was the goal now.

We were there till 11:00pm, when the driver found another bus for us that was going to our destination and beyond, my mother was almost going through severe shock and fatal heartbreak, she asked me for the plate number of the new vehicle, for security purposes. My mother called me almost every 5 minutes till the bus got to my destination by 1:00am. My parents drove to road to pick me back home, my mother's eye was red, she shedded tears, scared that the current insecurity in the country was no time to be on the road that late.

I fell sick because of the stress, I didn't expect that kind of thing to happen, it was something I have never experienced. There is no way I'm ever going to use a bus park that I'm not familiar with, my mother almost had a heart attack. I'm just imagining what could have happened if my phone went off in the process, my mother would have literally slumped, or perhaps entered into a coma. Using an old and unstable bus to drive a very far distance is barbaric, endangering the lives of people and wasting their time.

Comfort Zone: The Failure′s Zone

Comfort Zone: The Failure′s Zone
There is this laundry guy that lives in the same compound with me, he graduated about a year ago, he has a laundry shop which he didn't take seriously back then. He paid one boy like that to work for him, because he felt too lazy to handle his own business. At the end of the week, the boy normally hands him 6k, that it's all he made for the week, and at the end of the month, he will still have to pay the boy his monthly salary.

This laundry guy literally did nothing, he stayed in the house all day, playing games and gisting and flexing his life, something that someone in his early 30s shouldn't be doing. And idleness has a way of making someone look useless and miserable, the guy got into so many quarrels with other tenants several times, and got himself involved in unnecessary gossips that later escalated into something unexpected. It continued like this right from the time I moved into the compound.

A month after he graduated, I don't know what transpired, but he suddenly changed and started taking his life more seriously. The boy he employed to work for him ran away with his money and people's clothes. He started handling his business full-time, and he made over 30k in a week, compared to the 6k the boy always brought to him, meaning that the boy has been syphoning over 80% of the money made. He had no time to waste in the house all day, less time for play and gossips, which is better.

He always had money problems back then, but now he has even bought a new phone, fridge and TV, gets to show that you can't fully trust somebody with your business, you must fully supervise it. He is currently making plans to marry, which is very big development. He had to leave his comfort zone to be able to achieve all this, if not, he will still be there at home, without thinking of the next step in life. And I have really observed closely, he hasn't got into a quarrel with anybody since then.

He now enjoys the business, I don't know what he was thinking as at that time, there's money in the business, he just had to determine to do it himself. I relate it to other things, you can't sleep at home all day and expect progress, you must leave your comfort zone and enter into the tough zone, that is where all the gold is. A new year, there should be a dream, if there was already a dream, push on till you achieve it. There is no two ways about it, it's either you succeed or you fail in life.

Weevil′s Capitalization On Laziness

Weevil′s Capitalization On Laziness
For about two weeks now, I have been going through a very tough time in the hands of bean weevils, they were literally everywhere in my room; the floor, bed, table, chair, wall, ceiling, and will even rest on me at some point. The beans my parents bought for me last year October, as part of my provisions, was now a megacity for weevils. All along, I have been feeling too lazy to get rid of them permanently, and they capitalized on it, coupled with embarrassments.

Two of my classmates came to my house yesterday evening, around 5pm, we discussed about so many things, including school activities. Little did I know that this weevils will soon embarrass me big time. Things started turning around when it became dark, and there was power supply, the weevils flew around the bulb in numbers, resting everywhere in the house, including on our body. To my classmates, it was a funny thing, they laughed and took pictures of the whole stuff which they posted on our class's Whatsapp group.

The weevils even flew into our food and drinks, so uncomfortable that my classmates had to leave earlier than intended. I'm not exaggerating, it was such an embarrassment for me, the incident made the top headline in my class's Whatsapp group, they were laughed about it and narrated to my room as a haunted room, but it was a very sad thing for me. I caused it by allowing laziness to take over me, I made up my mind to do something about it this morning, and in the most tragic and brutal way possible.

I took the bag of beans outside, made sure that the fowls in the compound came close, then I used a sifter to separate the weevils from the bean, and you can imagine what followed. The fowls fed on the weevils till they were filled, believe me when I say that the weevils were much. The damage they did to my beans was heartbreaking, holes everywhere in my beans, that I allowed, but coming out to terrorize me in my own house was what I couldn't accept. I feel relieved that they are gone.

The laziness had cost me something, I still had to purchase an insecticide to be able to get rid of it completely, and now my classmates have started attaching weevil to my name as nickname, Kai! Such a pathetic way to kickstart this year/semester, I've learnt my lesson.
